Bryce Meredith / Job Greenwood Dave Schultz Tourney

Job Greenwood lost 4-3 to a PAC-12 Champion / NCAA qualifier.

Bryce Meredith won 13-2, scored 13 points after getting taken down early. He still scrambles like no other. He is going to face the #1 HS recruit (No Colorado signee) next.

Meredith wins 8-7. Came back after being down 5-0 early. Alirez is going to be a monster against Wyoming the next 4 years.

Heres a clip of Bryce's opening match

Job Greenwood won a barn burner 17-15.

How did Northern Colorado snag the #1 high school recruit?

Because he is from Greeley and wrestles for Greeley Central. He is by far UNC's best recruit ever.

I've noticed it takes a while for collegiate wrestlers to transition into good freestyle wrestlers. It'll take bryce a little while to get there, but I think he'll make some noise on the international level

Yeah the guy he lost to has been on the international stage for awhile. Bryce didn't look awful it will definitely take some time. Having him around Laramie will help our team out also.

I'm thinking that it might take longer for Bryce than some others with a different style though. He got so many of his takedowns in long scrambles where there were multiple back exposures and what not. Plus not having opportunities to ride people out isn't in his favor. I think that if anyone can make the adjustments, he can though.

Bryce actually looks good, but going against someone that has been in the game for 6 years is tough. This is a good tournament for Bryce.

So alirez, a high school senior, almost techs heil a two time NCAA champ. Go figure.. yes I realize it's freestyle compared to folkstyle but still crazy

Haha its funny to think about how much of a transition it is for heil too. Freestyle is not kind to a guy who stalled his way to 2 NCAA championships i guess.
But yes, based on how good he was on his feet in that match against Bryce and dominating heil, I think Alirez is going to be great. I wonder if he has a chance to win it all as a freshman?

I only caught the last minute and a half of the match, but Bryce certainly handled Alirez better the second match. 7-2. He scored a nice 4 right when I turned it on.

Colorado has two absolute studs graduating this year. Alirez and Schultz the heavyweight. Both capable of winning ncaas next year. It's a shame neither are coming to Laramie
