Brown and Gold All Access 9-20-09

Show is on. Rathbun is in the studio w/ Baend this week. Both agree that the CU uniforms were uglier than the team's performance. Robert Gagliardi on the show now.

Growing pains w/ the offense. Commenting about ugly special teams and the constant 3 and outs. Rushing attack has been weak, and rendered ineffective. Gags thinks that basic personnel seems to be the biggest problem in the offense. Receivers were beaten by man coverage all game. Can't break away from DBs. Lacks the WR that can stretch the field.
 
Rathbun says fans need to remember we're in a rebuilding year, patience, etc. Ups and downs will happen. Says the biggest difference between this and last season is turnovers. Says the defense has been solid, but isn't perfect. Run defense needs shoring up. Prone to big plays. Needs to focus on not taking a series off. Playmakers like Fletcher need to step up.
 
Gags points out the offense hasn't scored an offensive touchdown in 9 quarters. Defense needs to take some more chances. Offense needs to find an identity w/ a QB. Christensen shouldered the blame for this loss, but Baend is touching on a theme that he hopes DC doesn't shoulder the blame for all the losses like Joe Glenn did. Gags says that DC holds the players accountable for their actions, doesn't expect it to be a theme.
 
I don't think we have the players to go back to the power run anymore....i'm not sure why he brought that up.
 
Terry and Alexander are no thunder and lightning, but they are good. We don't have the people to run the O from last year though.
 
Baend said lots of swear words yesterday. Eric Schmolt is on the show now for the Casper Star Tribune.

His take on the game was unable to watch, surprising. Thinks the talent is the biggest problem on the team right now. They're of the opinion that ACS should be the starter. The whole playbook may not have been exposed yet, but the bread and butter isn't clicking yet. Poor special teams is a theme.. kicks not going deep, punts are good and bad, FGs need to be made from more than 25 yards. Bolling isn't looking up to game speed yet.
 
Eric talks about the rest of the MWC. MWC BCS hopes are probably gone. Laughs about SDSU losing to Idaho. Says Boise St is probably better or equal to Utah.
 
Keith Kelly on the show now. Reiterating that the talent isn't there to run this offense. Says Colorado still has good Big 12 caliber players. Everything went wrong for Wyoming. Says ACS should be the starting QB now. Thinks they'll have ACS taking the majority of the snaps this season. They'd like to see Sween get some PT as well since he's taken his licks in the program. DC hates moral victories, but the team may need to rely on some to build momentum.
 
They're just kind of bantering at this point.. soooo... I'm going to the grocery store. :)
