BRONZE BOOT - CSU @ WYO - Game Thread

My teams didn't do too badly today:

Pokes win
Indiana wins
Army wins

If Navy would have choked, it would have been a sweep.

laxwyo could you please take that down, I'm tired of coming on this site and popping a boner, a BIG boner.

didn't get to see the game, but from the stats, here are some observations...

Pretty damn efficient on 3rd down.
Probably due to the the passing and rushing efficiency.
15-20 3rd down.
20-34 passing for 240yds. (58.8% 7.1yds/att)

It is pretty astonishing that we ran the ball 57 times for 228 yds?!?!?!

Looks like we contained the run, but the secondary was working to boost the CSU QB Heisman cred....

Aside from the final score...we finally dominated a game this year. Sure we let the wooly ones have a couple in trash time, but we finally put a game away early...

For fuck sake...we finally crush a team and there are some that want to find fault in the win....really? we are up 28 in the 4th and we back off the gas and people still want to bitch....

I REALLY hope something can be done about the secondary, though. Their touchdowns were so freaking easy (apart from the first one).

I hear ya. The defense, secondary esp, is awful. Its often said, "the best defense is a good offense." Right now, our offense is our ONLY defense.

For defense we have:
Ghaali Muhammed (really going to miss this kid, he's been on both sides of the ball and has done well no matter where he was at)
Korey Jones (to light for a DE, but has done very well as a pure linebacker)
Sonny Puletasi (refuses to quit, and often is the one disrupting plays for the D-line)
And sometimes Blair Burns (not a bad player, but has missed his fair share of tackles).

That's about it. And we have done well in, if nothing else, limiting the run, but way too often our DBs are out of position and often over commit to one WR and leave another wide open (like today, 3 DBs on one WR, while another one is left WIDE open to make the TD).

Yep, exactly. The run defense has been ok. But the pass is killing us. Especially on third down, even third and long, its almost automatic. Frustrating.

At least the special teams held their own today. Nothing outstanding, but they didnt give up anything huge.

Yes I'm going to bitch about only being up 28 for once I wanted to see CDC nail a coffin shut and just play every quarter like the game is on the line. Fucking play to win he hasn't done it in the last 2 years and it shows there is no fucking reason he should be so willing to let up and go into coast mode and I personally hate it.

Let's not forget Purcell. He's double-teamed most of the time so you don't notice him as much, but he's definitely solid. Too bad he's done after this season.

I do agree with you on this point. But considering how the year has gone so far, I was pretty damn happy with the performance of the team this game and really don't care about the negatives. I would have liked to see us hang a couple more TDs on the sheep (did we pull a lot of starters in the 4th?) and show that we can really put an entire game together at least once a decade...
