Brett Smith....

...ya know, I'm still not sold on the kid. Every "lob" throw went his way in that first half. Every. I give a lot of credit to the game plan in the first half and not his execution. Seriously.

I still think that his ceiling is low because of things that are a little too late to fix. Arm strength and accuracy. I hope that it's not too windy Saturday; that'll really limit our offense.

Seriously

Reverse Psychology? ;)

Even the great ones are subject to a Sophomore jinx, but Smith is the best QB I've seen at Wyoming in a long time. Only time I see Pittser starting is in 2015 as a RS Sr.

A few of you have mentioned the arm strength and accuracy of Brett Smith's throwing arm.

I for one think he's actually pretty strong and accurate for throwing on the run so much. A lot of this offense has him rolling out and throwing on the run and I think that's to blame for some of the air mails, it's also part of why this offense is successful though.

Besides whether he's strong or accurate enough I think Smith has the intangibles all there. He's been very solid and he seems to be leading the offense really well. He also seems to have a lot of fan support so I think pulling him for Pittser would be a huge mistake, it would upset a lot more people than it would please.

Brett also jumps a lot when he throws. Many many pictures of him with both feet off the ground while throwing. We ride him as long as it takes. If Pittser is the real deal, we will find out. I think DC wants to win and will play who gives us the best chance. I like Smith, he seems like a great kid and a competitor. He will and can get better too. All this Pittser talks makes it sound like he will get it down and Smith cannot get better than what he is. That is BS! I see him starting for 4 years.

Well first off I think Brett is a great kid and a great leader and he has done a great job this year and he does have the intangibles down and you don't find that everyday. He can obviously get better.

On the other hand though I will agree that his arm strength is not what Pittser's is. There were quite a few throws the other night against SDSU where Brett ended up completing longer throws but our receivers had to stop and wait for the ball. It was on more than one throw, it was multiple throws. If he had the arm strength to hit those guys in stride they would have been TD's and quick strikes. The good news is they were still completed passes. I'm not sure what happened to Wyoming in the 2nd half but it wasn't all Brett's fault.

Smith will not be pulled this year for any reason and there is no reason to but one thing for sure is that with coach DC competition is always open and with Pittser having been in the program for over a year come next fall Pittser will have a chance to beat out Smith. Honestly it doesn't matter though as either are good QB's and we just need to fix the defense.

To be honest, and in Smiths defense, when you see the throws where the receiver had to turn and wait for the ball, Smith was running out of the pocket or scrambling. He was never set. But, when you see him set in the pocket like UNLV and Tex St. He threw long balls and lead his receivers with each pass. I don't think he has any problem. The only thing is he has a different style of throw. But, if it works...Don't fix it.
When your Frosh QB is throwing 61% and has a 11-5 td to int ratio I say there is no problem.

not to mention 6 rushing TD's. We have 29 TD's to date, with the defense giving up 29. We have 4 FG's and have given up 4 FG's. Only difference in offensive scoring and defensive is one extra blocked PAT. Scored 212 points and given up 211. Last year we had 30 total TD's that included the CSU wooping.
