Brett Smith will be drafted by...

I don't believe Cleveland will be drafting brett. For a couple of reasons

1. Look at their coaching staff. New coach, defensive minded... that hired an offensive coordinator and qb coach that will build a system like the Baltimore ravens.
2. No connections to needing that type of quarterback.

Look at Minnesota's coaching staff... Mike zimmer from Cleveland that brought his qb coach (whom happens to be a unlv grad)... then they hired norv turner as their offensive coordinator... in addition, they rehired matt cassel to a one year deal. They are targeting a qb in this draft (or two) to compete for the job in the fall of 2015. when the new stadium will be done. Rick spielman (the gm), likes young rosters that have explosive players.

also, I don't think Houston will be going after manziel. I don't think the head coach (from penn state) is that dumb. Whoever drafts manziel better have an option two... the liability that manziel brings to any team requires it. If he is your only qb option, and he fails... coach gets fired. simple.

the list of teams that need a quarterback is lengthy.

list of teams that need a qb now

Houston
Cleveland
Raiders
Minnesota
Tampa
Jacksonville
Tennessee

teams that need a qb soon

Denver
saints
cardinals
pittsburg

best prospects to draft in no order

bartles
bridgewater
carr
fales
smith
manziel (again, big firing risk with this kid)

what worries me the most, is that smith will get drafted by chip Kelly. he fits the system the best... and I think Kelly wants to challenge the old traditions of the nfl by running his full Oregon offense. I think smith would have a short career with the eagles.

look at roster fit, and what the coaching staff is trying to build. that should narrow down everybody's list a lot. those teams on the top list are the most likely to draft brett. all need qb's NOW. and once the qbs start coming off the board... the scramble will begin. like last years draft with offensive lineman. you have to fill your need.

but again, I think Cleveland will be drafting bartles if Houston doesn't take him, then bridgewater, then carr. or flip flop... but they want a big guy. add in Jacksonville at draft number 3.

whichever qbs are left for the teams needing qbs that draft after Houston, Jacksonville, and Cleveland will be drafting smith.

raiders, tampa, Minnesota, Tennessee.

if one of the teams gamble, trying to draft another position with a top 12 pick, I wouldn't be surprised. but smith will not fall below the second round i'm betting.

Edit: I forgot to add in aj mcarron... his is pretty high on teams boards too... add him in there somewhere.

I'm super biased and think he would thrive in Marc Trestman's offense in Chicago…Jay Cutler averages getting injured once a year and we don't have any backup since McCown left.

That being said, I would like to see either Tampa, Tennessee, or Cardinals draft him because I believe those coaches give him the best shot at developing.

1-Tampa: Jeff Tedford wanting an Aaron Rodgers-esque qb. Not Glennon. Wouldn't be shocked if Bucs pulled the trigger 2nd round. Wont get past the Bucs in rd 3, IMO. Plus, Brett deserves to have a Defense that Lovie Smith is capable of giving him for once in his career.

2-Tennessee: Ken Whisenhunt turned around Phillip Rivers and could develop Brett with Jake Locker being a walking injury waiting to happen. At some point could even turn to him in the first season. Potential 2nd round pick here.

3-Cardinals: How awesome would it be to see Bruce Arians get to develop a high ceiling QB with the capability of running his downfield deep offense. Sit behind Carson Palmer for 2-3 yrs and be a 23-24 yr old starter? His age of 21 comes into play HUGE.

The Vikings didn't even have anyone at his pro day. Which makes me viciously angry, as a Vikings fan.

I would say Denver has a pretty high interest in young Mr. Smith:
