Brett Smith is good to go.

I talked to Jason Thompson today while we were waiting for our respective classes today and I asked him if Smith was fine and will he be ready to go for AFA.
Thompson said yes he is totally fine as of today.
Smith is healthy and will be ready to go without a doubt.

Interesting side note....I asked if they were amped up for the AFA game after what happened last year, and Thompson laughed and said on Thursdays since Fall Camp started they have been preparing for AFA. I kinda of laughed and he said "No I'm serious, every week we have."
He also said that DC wants to destroy AFA.

I think it might get ugly in the Springs this saturday night.

I expect the offense to steamroll AFA. They are fired up, and DC wants it, more than ever.

Another note, something we have all assumed, if Wyo is up big at the end of the game, Thorton will be coming in, as they want to RS Thompson, but if the game is up for grabs, Thompson is going in.

I know we played sloppy against UNC. Might (almost certainly) were looking towards AF, but isn't that the point of playing teams like UNC? That's how this team is different from past DC teams. We can beat inferior teams without being sharp, and beat them by a wide margin. Playing teams like UNC allows for more prep time for more important teams during conference play.

Good to know that Brett is good to go.

Funny thing about overlooking teams is that if we lose to an FCS team we say we were overlooking them and we shouldn't have been, but after winning in an ugly blowout, we say man I hope we were overlooking them!
Lol I mean we still won by 28 freakin points, and were in control the whole time really (minus the first quarter) but damn winning 35-7 isn't anything to be bummed out about.

I think they were overlooking NC for AFA.
I couldn't believe what Thompson said about every thursday since fall camp was AFA day.
That's crazy.

Just remember that if we have been prepping for AFA since Fall camp, they could be prepping for us all well. I am not trying to be negaive here, just saying that a nice little rivalry has ensued here.

makes you wonder if the plays we ran vsUNC were very watered down and vanilla and DC is saving soem cards for Saturday.

Not so sure if that would be the case or not. they've had two conference games already this season, that wouldn't be the smartest thing for them to do when getting ready to play teams like Utah State and Boise State. Although on second thought, maybe that's why they got slammed by both those teams.

So, having rocks for hands and a defense that got less pressure on QBs then our worst defenses the last 4 years is a way of "looking ahead" to our game?

Air Force actually has a good passing QB (like Tim Jefferson a couple years ago), but his recievers don't do "recieving" very well.

AFA hasn't been preparing for us at all in the way Wyo has been for them I am willing to bet.
Calhoun wasn't the one who got screwed over by DC. DC is pissed, doesn't like Calhoun, and wants to embarrass him.
Better hope that there are no cheap shots on Brett Saturday.

Both Boise State & Utah State's WRs had their way with the Air Force secondary. I would expect Rufran, Herron, & Claiborne to do the same!

I can tell you for sure they have been preparing all year for this game.....I happen to know the kid that has had to be the feature running back on the scout team! :-)

Lol this is awesome.
It's going to get ugly for AFA.

Although I will tell you that we are down two receivers...out anywhere from 2-9 weeks. Shoulder injuries. Which means we will move one up that hasn't played much and Claiborn (sp) will be back. I think they will move Berger up.......

BP, never in my life have I been more hopeful that you are right.

We can have the best gameplan in the world, but unless the guys execute, it won't matter. That is what it will come down to. Air Force is sneaky/tricky. Of the 5 passs they attempt, 3 will be long balls that could go for TDs. I sure hope the guys are ready to play.

That is true but, thus far anyways, our d has been executing fairly consistently compared to past years

Losing two good linebackers is another scary aspect of this game. These guys are extremely important if we are to stop the triple option. Any injury updates?
