Brett Declares!

I think Jason Thompson will be outstanding at QB and may for Bohl system better. Best of luck Brett whatever team drafts you I will go to fedEx field and watch you play
Hope you have tickets to preseason games that's the only time he will ever see the field. And that's a stretch.

If I were a NFL GM, I would not draft Smith. Too many question marks. The biggest to me is his concussions. If he takes another big hit (from much more powerful athletes than what he has seen thus far), can he still play? Also, Brett has lacked consistency, partly due to his concussions. I wish him the best but I think this is the wrong move for him. Also, lets say he gets drafted and takes a big hit in training camp. Is he done playing then without having any education? To me, getting your diploma is one of the most important things that any college athlete can do. If you are a absolute standout top 20 pick, that could be different, but I just don't know if this is the right move.
Doesn't he get his diploma this year or something? I know Beaver or someone was saying something about it.

But no concussions this year, bulked up, played smarter, better, set multiple Wyoming and MWC records, and improved upon all his stats. What more do want from him? The kid would only go if told he would be drafted in the first few rounds.

I'm not sure about his diploma. That would make things better if for whatever reason the nfl doesn't work out. I agree he did a better job of playing safe but they also didn't win games. I am in no way putting all that blame on him, but is there any correlation? I'm not sure.

What exactly has he done?
Been undoubtedly the best QB Wyoming's had in some time. Dazzled and brought excitement. I guarantee you the next Wyoming QB will be a big drop off from Brett.

True but he never gave us what we need.....a conference championship!

Came damned close his Freshman season.....way closer than anyone else has this millennium. And come on.....Smith is a great talent, but football is a team game. I've been trying to beat that through the heads of some people on this board for years now. Brett could not do it all himself.

Fool. No way he gets drafted. Guess he didn't want to play for a good coach for once.

Ridiculous! With a better defense under bohl Wyoming could be 7-4 and showcase him for the draft

All you guys bad mouthing him are fucking losers, straight up. He is a quitter? Really? Name one time he quit? And Brett didn't give us championships? No shit, but this isn't a fucking one person sport.

I told you guys this meltdown would happen.
Brett is amazing for 3 years, everyone loves him, he leaves for the NFL and you guys act like you don't even fucking like him.

Great class Wyonation. I want to see you guys do what Brett did for Wyo before you bad mouth him.
Unreal.

Let's just call a spade a spade. He saw DC leave and realized he wouldn't be able to put up video game numbers so he quit. He was more interested in his numbers than winning, clearly. I say good riddance. He is delusion if he thinks he has a future I'm the NFL. He's about the third best quarterback in the MWC, much less the country.

No way he gets drafted? So you know more than all those fucking scouts? Idiot.

He wouldn't have left unless the NFL told him he was likely going high.

I wonder who told him this. I think you're right but I must be missing something here. I love the kid but he wasn't that accurate and he doesn't have a big arm. And how can you grade his game when he's playing in the MWC? Our best team got hammered by a mediocre USC team. Oh well. I hate to see him go. It would have been nice to see what he could do under the new regime.

The NFL Draft Evaluation process told him that.
He submitted his paperwork for an eval. so they evaluated him. They told him what grade/round they think he would go in. The number was high enough so he declared.

Here's a hint, those scouts know a lot more about Brett and his ability than anyone on here does.

I wouldn't say that Smith didn't want to win and only cared about numbers. But, a good point about his numbers has been made. With the new system under Bohl, I doubt he'd put up those insane numbers. How that would affect NFL scout's decisions about him, I don't know. I would suspect that it would affect his potential in the 2015 draft negatively. It's not like Wyoming is in the SEC where a QB's every game is watched by millions.

He's gone now. That is all pure speculation.

This is a McCown/Cutler situation anyway. The better quarterback was on the bench. Thompson will lead us back to relevance. He is a team player.

If he plays for a team that fields a defense he won't be able to throw it 70 times a game and pad his stats in another loss. Look for him to sign a free agent deal with Dallas after he goes in drafted since they don't play any defense either.

You idiots that are talking shit about him not winning here need to realize that NFL doesn't look for QBs that have winning college teams. Look at Ryan Tannehill. John Elway.
Fuck, you ever wonder why Kellen Moore is 3rd string? And Tebow isn't even in the NFL?
They know what they are looking for and they know a hell of a lot more than you pricks.

I agree with BeaverPoke, go somewhere else because your ignorance is stinking up the site. In Vorel's blog Brett said that the coaching change had NOTHING whatsoever to do with his decision to go to the NFL. Secondly, I do think that Brett has a very decent shot at having a good NFL career, it mainly depends upon who drafts him and what type of situation he is thrown into, i.e. - meaning is there a good training situation, and is there a decent offensive line so he doesn't get beat up, etc., etc. If he wasn't NFL material they would have told him by now, and considering that he has been working with Drew Brees, Garcia and Peyton Manning I think that he has some really good connections and teachers so far, so your ignorance is astounding. I wish Brett all the best and he will always be a great Cowboy and I hope that his NFL career turns out to be a great one as well.
