Breast cancer awareness uniforms

Brokeback jokes don't even make sense in this case.. seriously.

Also, the hospital I work for uses purple for this month rather than pink.. pink is apparently breast cancer awareness colors, purple is supposedly "all cancers awareness" or something like that.. so our foundation promotes this month with pink and purple. They sponsored our softball shirts w/ the purple Team Up Montana logo.

Look, is there ANYONE who is NOT aware of breast cancer and how bad it is? Is there really a need for all this pink stuff and are any victims cured because a football player wears a pink loin cloth? Does this really increase donations?

Seriously lame. No more money to SGK and all the "I [heart] boobies" organizations from me. Overexposed and annoying is what they've become...

If the pink makes you think twice, how bout this? This is why I never give a dime to any large charities. Think this greedy bitch really wants to find a cure and end the gravy train?
That salary might seem like a lot, but I'd be curious to see what their final net contributions are versus revenues. Fact is, even big non-profits require serious talent to achieve their mission (dollars to the cause, rather than bottom line). If SGK's on a par with for-profits of comparable size, her salary can't be too heavily criticized.

my mother went through chemo and radiation, while I was deployed. She got the proper treatment, but more importantly, found the cancer early. Its serious business man.

this will be good for the program. television and marketing, mothers will like this a lot.

God save the boobies. I can handle the pink helmet. would look better with white uniforms.

what if we went with the camos, pink decal, and sayings on the back... like

Cowboys
Love
Breasts
Cure
Cancer

Also, what is all of this pink really doing for raising money? I understand the seriousness of breast cancer, but there are just as many serious cancers out there. Why is the pink breast cancer awareness so overblown? I'm pretty sure most Americans are very aware of it and still don't donate any more than they would if all the pink crap wasn't worn every Saturday and Sunday on football uniforms.

Kind of starting to turn into more of a "fad" than a useful money-generating tool.

I couldn't agree more. I already feel worse about our chances Saturday because of these hideous uniforms.

wearing pink doesn't just raise money for boob cancer. It goes to the cancer research society... which is trying to find a cure for CANCER.

im not a pro pink kinda guy... never worn it myself. but ive lost enough family to cancer. October see's a huge bump in research donations, and the nfl is proud to say they are part of that.

im not going to put down this uniform, its for a donation that might lead to a break through in abnormal cell growth.

Wyoming is definitely making a statement, and one that should be supported. Im more worried about how we perform than what we wear.

im done and will get off the pedestal, bragging rights go to the winner.

I used to like Breasts until this breast cancer awareness shit has taken over football... and yes I have lost a love one to breast cancer. But that doesn't mean it should dictate such ugly apparel and a pink steamboat. How unfortunate... ugh

Yes, there has been someone cured because of football players wearing pink.
There is a commercial about it on TV.
A lady was talking about how her husband was watching Sunday Night Football a couple seasons ago and were wearing pink. She asked why were they wearing pink. He explained how it was for breast cancer awareness, so it got her thinking. She went into the doctor to get checked because of it. Turns out she had breast cancer and it was still early enough that they could save her.
So again to answer your question...
Yes, football players wearing pink has saved someone with breast cancers life.

Holy shit people are ridiculous.
Cry about a fucking pink steamboat because it's UGLY? Are you a damn teenage girl???
You would rather just not have to deal with the color pink than it potentially raise awareness, or be the the light that goes off in some womans head to go get herself checked?

Boo fucking hoo it's a pink steamboat for breast cancer awareness. Get over it.

Anything related to Susan G. Komen is not a good cause. I hate that people are still falling for that crap. She sues the life out of any other cancer research charities that uses the word "cure" in their slogan, and that's just the start of it.

Only 15% of their revenues goes to actual Breast Cancer Research!

I could go on a rant about all the evil things this woman has done, but I suppose that she's still a net positive in that 15% of the roughly $400 million of annual revenue they bring in is still a crap ton of money.

No charity puts their full revenue to what the charity is, In fact 15% is actually a pretty large amount. They never have and they never will it's something you just have to accept, As long as the cause is still helping then it's a good cause.

15% is a lot? American Red Cross spends 92% of their revenue on their actual programs, World Vision sits at 85%, Doctors without Borders swings between 86 and 89%, and I believe UNICEF guarantees less than 10% overhead as well.

Edit: I realize this isn't completely fair since their advertising is part of the whole "awareness" thing, but at this point, man...
