I never held a grudge against BYU. I always defended it having a starting lineup older than the Houston Texans'. I marveled how it fielded very good teams while recruiting from one of the smallest talent pools in the country. I didn't even mind the complete inability to find a beer for sale after its home games.

I never thought the Cougars were arrogant. However, I do now. In fact, this grandstanding about going independent in football is arrogant to the point of delusional.

I think most everyone in the conference is to the point they much rather see BYU just walk away. Sure for the best overall good of the MWC, having BYU in it is very important, but not if they are going to hold the conference to concessions.

What I don't understand about BYU is the fact they haven't been TCU, Utah, or even Boise State. They have been good, but they aren't the ones getting to the BCS games. If they go independent, how do they expect to make a BCS game with a tougher schedule? They are going to have to play the likes of Texas, Notre Dame (even though they are nothing to write home about currently), etc. They are still going to have to have only one loss at worst to get into a BCS game. That is no different than what they would have to do now in the MWC.

In the end it is about $$$ and spreading their message, but they shouldn't get be getting special treatment from the BCS though... there are other schools in the MWC more deserving of that.

I suspect they want to play a schedule much like what Boise State has played and to get into the BCS Bowls that way.
When Texas plays them the HORNS better beat 'em good. If I were they Texas AD I would not have schedule any sport against BYU.

Its really sickening how the BYU fans all jump into every discussion about the school without an logic or cooth. :thumbdown:
