Breaking My "48 Hour" Rule

Some thoughts:

1. Hire Bobby Petrino. Anyone lesser, will mean another 5 year "hall pass" of waiting for my expectations to be met. Further, without a splash hire, there is too much to lose. On top of that, don't let Burman make the hire. Let the new AD make the hire. The DC experiment (and all he has experimented with) has been a mess. Then again, he made his bed - if he wasn't such a stubborn power hunger dick out of the gate...

2. Lose the hurry up offense for the rest of the season. Why the rush...I don't get it. All we get is a fast 3 & out, and a very tired defense, that is lacking to begin with. In order to be Oregon, you have to have at minimum a mediocre defense. We don't. We have offensive talent, and instead of using it to our advantage, we are rushing it - and failing. At the very least, by slowing things down, we may retain some players.

3. Fire Tormey now. Wouldn't hurt a thing. Guy is a nightmare. Goes from rushing 5 & 6 in the first 20 minutes, to a conservative rushing 3 (getting no pressure) the rest of the game. And how does he adjust? He doesn't. The SJSU QB had all day in the second half to pick Wyoming apart. We don't want this guy recruiting future Pokes!

Well said. I have often wondered why we run a hurry up offense. What's the rush in getting that defense (and I use that term loosely) back onto the field?

Love the Petrino suggestion...outside the box to the max.

The man can coach.
I would also enjoy Petrino, but I do not think he will want to leave the south east.

So, 3-4 more years of rebuilding since the Petrinos like the pro set and we've been recruiting for the spread?
Petrino has experience running the pistol, spread, read option and pro set. I'd imagine he could work with what we got and win games

Then why isn't he still at Arkansas?

because he was sleeping with a volleyball player then got her a position on his staff with a 20k bonus. And he got a DUI on his bike. Lack of family values is only accepted if you are winning SEC championships

And sliding into obscurity. His last couple of years he went from a winning team to barely winning anything.

I like the idea but I don't think he would come here. And if he did, he wouldn't stay. However, a few really good years may be all that's needed to jump start the program for a new guy.

? He went 11-2 his last year at Arkansas and would have been the SEC champ that year had the refs not made a bad call that the conference suspended them for. He was an interim coach for the falcons but that was like 3 games. He hasn't slid into obscurity at all.

I believe the Petrino's are from Montana.. it's not like he doesn't know the area, his coaching gigs have just taken him to the SEC area.

He's spent time at weber state, Utah state, Nevada, and Idaho IIRC. He knows the Western US. It's just a matter of the old timers who think its a privilege to live in Wyoming to get past his baggage.

I would have vouched for Petrino before the season.....and maybe still would......but do note his Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have actually regressed this year under him. Not doing all that well at his current non-AQ school.

They changed offensive schemes and he has as many wins as DC right now. Bet he still goes bowling

Money Talks. Is he making over $1.2 mil currently?
he is making 800k base with no incentives.
It is actually 850k base, with potential incentives to take it to upwards of 1.4 mil per year. Compare that to DC having roughly a 190k base, with potential incentives to make 1.2 per year.

is incentives are based on selling 12k season tickets and going to a bcs bowl. He hasn't received either of those. It's 10k for the season tickets and 300k for a bcs bowl
