In a spread offense the "H" Back is a hybrid running back. The position is designed to run screens, fly sweeps, and short crossing routes. You can also incorporate that position into the inside /outside zone option. In a trips formation it would be your inside receiver. In a two x two set he would mirror your "Z" back.

Exactly. This isn't a one back set formation. The spread has a lot of hybrids in it, that is why it is considered a spread. It's an offense where practically everyone can do anything. Everyone except OL are hyrids.
