Boycott Walmart in Laramie

The day they put up the Letter N they Had a Huge UW put on the other side. I think it is cool that our local store supports and even pays attention to our team enough to care about doing that. I think that showing only half of the full picture and saying to BOYCOTT is kinda childish don't you think. The UW in there is HUGE. I think it looks awesome.

Retailers are just having a little fun!!!
For those who think a "BOYCOTT" is the way to go SHAME ON YOU!!!! Step out of the moment for two seconds and look what the 8000 plus Nebraska fans are going to do for our community... then step back in and feel your shame!!!
I say we invite the Nebraska fans in with open arms!!!! Let them buy Laramie products :twocents: ... Stay in Laramie Hotels :twocents: ... Eat at Laramie Restraints :twocents: and spend their money on the University Of Wyoming Campus.... :twocents: Then no matter what happens Saturday!!!!

So here are the pics that show the rest of the story. The Pepsi UW was built first and there was some miscommunucation with the coke vendors and they built theirs bigger. So Pepsi rebuilt theirs to an even bigger size. The front windows are painted on both sides of the store to show the school spirit and there are several other displays of UW items through out the store also. Not to mention the whole room devoted to nothing but UW at the front of the store. (Cowboy Corner)

The problem is.. shopping at Walmart isn't exactly doing your part to help the Laramie community, very little, if any, of that money stays in Laramie.. instead it goes to feed 4 of the top 20 richest Americans and their stockholders. So yes, boycotting Walmart should indeed be called for, however, shopping at your local Laramie businesses should be widely supported, and I doubt any of them have commie Red in their stores.. more than I can say about Wally World.

Really?! What happened to teaching our students respect and professionalism. I think it is completely appropriate to show both teams in a dualing fashion. Yay for walmart for supporting their customers and community events. The game is going to bring a lot of customers in and a lot of money to the community and I know as a recipient of many walmart sponsored programs that a lot of money goes to organizations in this community.

Oh come on. You're all jumping on a bandwagon without getting the full story? That store is chock full of Wyoming merchandise, and if that photo wasn't cropped so tight, you'd have seen it. The display was obviously built by the Pepsi and Coke companies, who KNOW what a good friendly rivalry is all about.

Good lord, the town is going to be crawling with Nebraska fans tomorrow. Get used to it.

Isn't Teton Brewing actually in Victor, ID

Yep. Although they are generally accepted at the Saratoga brewfest which only invites Wyo breweries.

'Bout the only two breweries in Wyo that bottle/can their goods are Snake River and Wind River, at least that I know of.

My mom's boss gave her some Wind River Pale Ale today. Holy fucking shitballs that is the worst thing I have drank in recent memory

Have any idea the number of jobs that place provides? I hear they've got insurance and everything. I saw a sign that showed their starting wage, WELL above anyone else in town. Yeah, boycott the store, put those people back in the unemployment line. That's great for the economy. I'm sure all the other businesses can support the influx of hundreds of unemployed workers.

I'm pretty sure those employees spend their paychecks in town. I know a few that come to my place of business and their money is pretty good.

PS, do some window shopping downtown. Anyone with any business sense is cashing in on the Huskers' visit.

I like to go to WalMart with my wife and not buy anything. You can just go in and laugh at the fucked up people you can see throughout the place

Any idea how many local stores they've taken out of business? How many farmers they've screwed over? How many basic manufacturing companies they've bankrupted with their shady dealings?

Wal-Mart is one of the least ethical corporations in the world. The worst thing is that they're not even shy about admitting it when you're being screwed over by them. They will tell you that sure, you'll win that law suit, but they will drag it out for ten years, and your legal fees will sink you. Check what they did to Rubbermaid and Vlasic, for example...

I could go into a lot more detail about how it all works, but no need to derail this thread any further. If you want to know, feel free to send me a PM.

I've never posted on here before so first off hello fellow Cowboy fans. I saw this display yesterday as well as all the Husker apparel and the "Welcome Nebraska fans" painted on the front window. I actually worked at this store last summer, and yes, both the new store manager and the assistant manager are from Nebraska.

hmmm... a bunch of brand new posters that all signed up within hours of each other and singing wal-mart's praises......

that doesn't seem at all fishy

:willybs:

I guarantee you that the UW pepsi display was put up yesterday morning AFTER numerous complaints about the big red N. The N was the only thing there. I'm 99% sure the photo wasn't cropped to only show the N, there wasn't anything else to show. There was no UW on the back side of the N as it butts up against the cashiers.

I'm glad Walmart rectified it and showed the matchup instead of selling their souls for a few bucks from the easterners. Regardless, I will still avoid that place like the plague.

I guarantee the pepsi UW display has been up for weeks. It had the bucking bronco on it for all of the other games. and the UW display is not behind the N it is across from it so you walk between them as you come in. If you take the photo as you are coming into the store you will see both sides.

No. It wasn't. There has been a thing up front by the entrance, but not in the back. So don't try to BS 2 guys that live here and have been to Wal-Mart over the last few weeks.

Well, lucky, ronm79, wyoyodel, Wyo1890, Wyonefan (and others I am sure)...

I will help explain.

It is obvious you are either managment at Walmart (or related to managment), a die-hard employee at Walmart, or a die hard believer in everything Walmart...as to how you all signed up, and started to defend against anything that was spoken in disfavor of Walmart.

I have my own opinion about Walmart, and choose not to share it on this UW - Football - Sports message board. I gotta admit though, the red "N" was a trashy move. When bWHYu came to town, did you put up a blue "Y"? What about when even Texas was in town...was their and orange "T" on display in your store? CSewe? Utah? Boise State? No, No, No, No, and No would be the answer. So why the "N" again? Nevermind, we already (all) know why.

True Wyoming fans have an immense amount of pride in everything Wyoming. You can see that here in this thread. As a manager at Walmart, maybe you should have made a better business decision, and left your personal feelings for Nebraska and the Huskers stay in your underwear, and not put it on display for criticism by UW fans.

Oh, and I don't think the 8000 visiting fans would have really given a shit if your red "N" was there or not. They are still coming, staying, playing, spending, etc., and will get treated with the same respect by me, that they in turn give me. That is a lame excuse / rebuttle.

Carry on.
