Bowl Season 2021

Looking through the bowl games and based on games I watched this year, here are the handful I'll try catch...
WYO vs Kent State (obviously)
AF vs Louisville
ND vs Okie Light (coaching shift taints this one a little)
Baylor vs Ole Miss (i'm thinking this will be fun game to watch)
Ohio State vs Utah
Michigan vs Georgia (how good is that Michigan D?)
Cincinnati vs Bama (expecting a blowout here but will watch for a bit to see if Cinci can keep pace).

There's definitely a few other interesting matchups. I might catch a few minutes of whatever is on if I'm not busy, but I couldn't care less for most of the rest. Yours?
 
Bowl Season is starting to turn into a joke because of the transfer portal. Nevada might not even be able to field a team with all of the transfers out after Norvell went to CSU. Hawaii lost some of its best players.

We should consider ourselves lucky this year heading into our bowl game compared to other teams.

The playoff also contributes to the deterioration of the bowl system--even more so once the playoff is expanded. Also having enough games for every .500 team is ridiculous.

Between the playoff, the new transfer rules, and NIL, college football will continue to turn for the worst. I'm not saying those things are necessarily wrong. They just won't benefit the game overall. I'd rather have an expanded playoff and 0 other bowl games, FWIW. With that said, if the players like the bowl system like it is, who am I to tell them anything?
 
I would also like to throw ESPN in there as a big part of the downfall of college football. I think there are 44 bowl games, and ESPN/ABC are carrying 41 of them. Here's a quote from ESPN -

"ESPN's industry-leading coverage of the 2021 college football postseason will feature a 41-game bowl schedule, culminating with the exclusive presentation of the College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T (8 p.m. ET) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind."

This is a big reason why I just don't watch college football. Something is wrong when the three major networks have three games, and ESPN has the rest (greed, bribes, corruption...) Their corporate headquarters are in Bristol, Conn (the name of the state says it all).

ESPN Events, a Disney company, straight up owns 15 bowl games.

I had never thought of this but there seems to be an antitrust component to college bowl games. If ESPN owns a certain number of bowls and has effectively captured the market and eliminated competition and because the NCAA limits new bowls (thus eliminating new market competition), seems that meets the very definition of anti-competitive conduct potentially giving rise to liability under the Sherman Act.

I was looking forward to a nice weather game to travel to.
Boise, Idaho... Been there.. The field is blue. The pep rally is lame. (When will they get a bowl parade???)
Watching from home.
 
This Jimmy Kimmel deal is BS. May we never play in this bowl.

Hoping like hell Oregon State wins this. Would be a great day... both byu and byu light go down!!! Come on Beavers!
