I know I know, crazy talk right? BOWL GAME??? You want to talk about....BOWL GAMES???? I'm asking that you all please put away your bitter beer and negative perspective away for 1 minute and bare with me here. I know this season has sucked to this point, but lets be real for a minute. Being the optimist that I am, I think Wyoming can squeak out a win against SDSU and win their final 4 games. Making them bowl eligible.
I really don't think that's crazy talk. Wyoming has played some tough opponents this season and honestly, they played Utah and BYU better than I expected. The Aztecs are coming to Laramie this weekend and will have been on the road for two consecutive weeks. As good as they are, that's still a very tall task for them. If Wyoming can get past them, they are way more than just capable of beating UNLV, New Mexico, and Colorado State.
On to the bowl scenarios: I think its safe to assume one of TCU or Utah will be in a BCS Bowl game. That leaves the following bowl games the MWC has tie-ins with: Armed Forces Bowl, Independence Bowl, Poinsettia Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl, New Mexico Bowl. My guess would be Air Force, Utah, San Diego State, and BYU would occupy four of those five bowl games. Fortunately for Wyoming, unlike previous years there will be enough bowl games available for them to not get snubbed. A 6-6 record would get them invited somewhere, most likely back to the New Mexico Bowl. They could also snag a spot in San Francisco for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl if the Pac-10 does not have enough eligible teams(UCLA, ASU, UW are all barely hanging on).
Basically what I'm trying to say here is; don't give up just yet. The MWC really set up the Pokes with an extremely rough first half of the season. Now that the dust is settling, I think a bowl run is possible. Everyone get out there this weekend and cheer the Cowboys on! This season isn't over yet.......
