Boise St. goes into Omaha and beats Creighton. MWC is loaded this year fellas.... going to be tough to get a win on the road in conference. Good Job by Boise St. though for the MWC's RPI.

Yeah, about that whole "Boise State will be an easy win" for Wyoming crap.....lol

I think you are still missing the point and by a pretty long shot.

Those are BSU and WYO stats up to date through this season, Lets look further into it shall we?

BSU vs UCSB sure BSU won they were expected to win, They beat them 72-56, UCSB has a 61.3 PPG and BSU held them to 56 which isn't to bad. But look at that same game WYO vs UCSB we beat them 68-40, so we nearly scored as much as Boise but we completely negated their offense. Do you remember last year? UNLV they were #11th and we beat them. So what does that say that because BSU beat a #11 team they are some high and mighty team?

Boise has a very mediocre defense and I do believe that Wyoming has a pretty damn strong defense still. We still only give up 51.7 PPG are those skewed for a weak SOS sure they are. Does that mean that BSU is going to crush WYO or vice versa? No imo we are still the better team.

they should get vote and perhaps a top 25 ranking pending they beat Seattle this weekend...good for the MWC

If we beat CU do you think we should get votes? More than Boise? Less? the same?

I think if Boise had upset MSU they would maybe get into the top 25 but since they didn't... IDK if they deserve the votes. Of course it was at michigan state...

I just have a hard time believing Boise is better than us in hoops til they beat us.

Kind of like how people thought we could beat them in football this season but we still agreed they were the favorite only because we have yet to beat them.
Same thing but switched for me.

We should definitely receive votes if we beat CU, probably more than Boise (we haven't lost yet and CU is better than Creighton, the Buffs actually play defense).

However, neither team in a Top 25 team and both will be clawing to finish in the top half of the MWC. So much talent and/or experience at UNLV, UNM, SDSU, and CSU (this is their year, 5 senior starters, etc.). BSU and Wyoming are quality squads but we are playing in a brutal league this year.

What makes the MWC a brutal conference? Having 3 teams at the top that are Top 25? Or having your middle of the pack teams be teams that can play with anyone and still winning 20 games a season? Having 50% of your conference make the Big Dance? Having 75% of the conference make post season play?

i couldn't see us both getting into the top 25 if we beat CU, we'll probably get votes, and yes it'll be an impressive victory, but with Boise going into East Lansing and giving the Spartans all they wanted, and then going to Omaha and beating a really good Creighton squad, some have them as elite 8 material, and still may be as this loss for them may be a blessing for them for the future. I'd love to see both of us make it but I think with our lack of a true strength of schedule Boise will get the nod 1st.

If we beat cu, then go beat illinois state, we have a good chance of getting a lot of votes or crackin the top 25

Who has Boise as elite 8 material? That is funny.

Boise pulling off the upset on the road was a huge win for them and they will be tough this year but anyone who is saying they are elite 8 material this early in the season because of one big win is off their rocker. Now if they go an beat UNLV, SDSU and New Mexico on the road then I will entertain those thoughts and take them more seriously but until then I will laugh lol.

stymeman I think I misunderstood your post and you probably meant that some people have Creighton as elite 8 material which makes more sense. I need to read better lol

I'm actually more worried about the Illinois St. game than I am the CU game. If we knock CU off then we are in the perfect let down spot after a big win and going on the road against a team that might be the best in the MVC this year. Will be a very tough game. If we knock both of them off then we deserve to be ranked. Will be a tough task though back to back games.

Yes.

I meant "brutal" in the best possible way. This league is really tough, and even quality teams like Wyoming and BSU may finish in the bottom half (I suspect they may finish 5/6 in a 9 team league).

The MWC should be a 4 bid league and at 44% of the league making the tourney that puts the MWC in elite conference company as the MWC is clearly establishing for the 2nd year in a row that it is among the Top 6 conferences in the country.

Agreed, but mostly due to the location of the games. Pokes were great on the road at UCSB, but I still have more confidence in the team at home than on the road.

Going 1-1 against those two teams would be impressive by itself and likely give the Pokes a good shot at going 13-1 in OOC play this season.
