IMO, the Tiller era at Purdue had made it almost impossible for any other coach except maybe Urban Meyer or Saban to win at Purdue.

Interesting thought. Please explain.

Not much football history unlike Wyoming which does. A P5 stepping stone job. Plus Tiller did so well by passing the ball back when everyone else in the Big Ten was still running it like crazy. He forced the conference to start having better passing defenses.

Ok. I misunderstood what yo meant. I thought you were saying that Tiller did something to the Purdue program that makes it so that any coach that is not as elite as Meyer or Saban simply would not have the skill to win games at Purdue. You simply meant that it would take winning at the level of Saban or Meyer to satisfy Purdue's fans.

Bingo!

Dino asked Bohl today about rumors of him taking other jobs. Basically he said he's not going to talk about rumors, but alluded to being hear to see us return to national significance and the BSU win was a very very small part of that. Made it sound like he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Unless he's truly unhappy here, doesn't see a way out and if his wife isn't happy in Laramie, we at Wyoming always have to understand we're a stepping stone University, that's why some day I hope we hire someone that is an alumni here, that might make quite a difference. Now next year if we go 8-4, then we'll really see where his stock takes him. But this year not worried about him leaving in the slightest
I'm always worried with a coach that has success at UW.

What's he going to say, "yep, I'm looking for a bigger opportunity". That's what any coach says. I hope to the sky he stays, just not a good track record at WYO with successful coaches. Maybe Bohl will be different..........

Paul Roach was a hero of mine when I was a kid. Almost got to meet him but chickened out.

I was in Burmans suite two years ago and got to meet him. He's as "genuine" and as unassuming as you would expect.

Still kicking myself for that. I was really shy back then. Coulda met him after the 1992 game in Lubbock, Texas when Wyoming lost, 49-32, to Texas Tech but chickened out.

He could've left it at those are rumors and I'm not going to respond to rumors.

Read at your own risk. I disagree strongly with the premise of this article.

A report by Bill Bender in the Sporting News a couple of weeks ago mentioned Bohl among seven choices to replace Darrell Hazell.

That Bohl could even be in that conversation is semi-remarkable. Until this season, things had not gone well in Laramie for Bohl. After building NDSU into a Football Championship Subdivision powerhouse by winning three straight national titles, Bohl left Fargo for Wyoming in January 2014. His first two years in charge of the Cowboys ended with 4-8 and 2-10 records.

The belief in Fargo was that Bohl made a mistake going to Wyoming because it is a difficult, if not impossible, place to win. It’s been a graveyard for coaches since Joe Tiller parlayed his time in Laramie into the head coaching job at, interestingly enough, Purdue. Tiller’s last season at Wyoming was 1996. He was in West Lafayette, Ind., from 1997-2008.

Yes, Bohl was making plenty of money at his new job. But he should’ve waited until a better came open to leave NDSU. He’ll never get to the Big Ten or Big 12 from Laramie. At least that was the conventional thinking.

Sounds more like butthurt bison fans in disbelief that he'd leave them for us and he only would have done it for a stepping stone

It's better up here in Brown and Gold land and Buffalo and the Bighorns are God's Country, enjoy!!

Oh, no doubt. Grew up on the other side of the Bighorns (as in west of the Bighorns). One of the things that still gets me to chuckle a bit is when I hear someone from Sheridan say on the other side of the Bighorns referencing Buffalo/US16 vs Sheridan/US14. It is good to be back home.
The Basin side of the Big Horns is God's Country. I think you two may have it wrong lol

I grew up on the Basin side of the Bighorns. I love it over there. That said, I also did a survey over in Greybull one summer day and it was a downright hellish 114-116 degrees that day. Regardless personally, I think all of Wyoming is God's Country especially the north half.

I was born in Greybull and lived there until '82. Any chance I know you?

Met Paul Roach when I was a student and he was the HC and AD. Was at the AA for a basketball game against BYU, we had gotten there early and were in the front row. He walked by and shook my hand. can't remember what exactly I said to him, but he replied, "We'll take care of the butt kicking, you just cheer loud!"
