Bohl to Purdue

Perdue is way behind on facilities... They desperately need that 60 mil upgrade

I think the Boise fan doesn't understand the HAPC is just an extension of the existing facility....which is solid and state of the art by itself. And both are a stone throw from a 120 yard indoor facility.

Right now, Bohl is 11 wins against 20 losses - he isn't going anywhere. Maybe if he runs the table this year, and has a 10 win season next year, but a 35% win percentage in the MWC (through last weekend) isn't going to get him a job in the P5 anytime soon. :twocents:

Talent at Purdue is an issue. Are the players in place that would allow him to implement his system and win more than 6 games in the first two years? I don't know of many fan bases (including ours) that have the patience for losing 10 games in a season. If he had to tear Purdue down like it did Wyoming, I'm guessing the administration would want someone who could take the existing players and coach them up.

I think he is staying around for a while.

I can't see the AD from Purdue or any power conference going after a coach with a losing record, so I think this year is out. If any of the power conference schools were impressed with his record at NDS (with apologies to LakeBison), they would have pursued him then. But, as an older gentleman, he probably doesn't have a lot of coaching years left to build a FBS powerhouse as he built an FCS powerhouse at NDS. Right now it looks like he may have turned a not so good team into a good team, and it took a few years. It will take the same few years at Purdue, probably longer, and actually probably never considering their schedule. But...it was more money and a higher level of competition that got him to Wyoming, so who knows if he'd be willing to take a few steps back again for a similar circumstance. If or when Bohl leaves Wyoming, it will be his final destination. He may want to wait for a slightly better situation than Purdue.

Here, he gets ballpark of $1.2 mill +/-. Purdue paid ballpark of $2 million. I would guess they increase that to $2.5- $3 in the next round.

In short, about $1-1.5 mill more than us. The question will be how much we can increase to keep him. In 4 years, you are talking 6 million or more above what he would make here if we didn't increase to match.

Come on, man. This is the real world not some polyannish la la land.

Not liking the misleading thread title...but that aside:

1. We are 5 & 2, with close wins in our pocket against everyone sans UC Ringolsby...and CSewe (kind of). And a horrible loss against EMU, and a 4th quarter melt down against Knebraska. That doesn't ring any bells.

2. Previous to the current 5 & 2, we had the worst Wyoming team to ever take the field (2015)...with 2 of the worst losses in the history of the program.

3. If he leaves the cupboard in better shape than how he found it, that is all I can ask. I am not loyal (nor a knee-dropper like some fans out there) to any coaching staff. I am loyal to Wyoming. Coaches change all the time, they continually move around.

4. As somebody else mentioned, regarding spouse, not sure she would be "happy" anywhere. North Dakota, Laramie, Purdue, Ann Arbor, Gainesville, etc. LOL!

I get your point, but individuals still have their own motivations. For some coaches they may prefer a certain surrounding culture, town, university, situation, challenge, or a host of other factors over more money. I suspect Bohl had offers from programs in a better spot than Wyoming, but he chose Wyoming. Why, ultimately that is up to Bohl. You may be right, but while money is important it isn't always the be all end all.

Bohl was committed to NDSU for a long time. He turned down a lot of job offers before Wyoming, waiting for the right fit.

I don't think he'll just run off to anybody. I think he's perfectly content to wait for the Nebraska job to open up from the comforts of Laramie.

I don't think we'll lose him to anyone other than Nebraska. He likes it here.

One of Purdues best. He was pretty average for us at the time, aside from the year he took the safety vs. BYU in the championship game. Before that season he was about .500 every season. That might seem good now, but following Roach it was pretty hard to tolerate.

Tiller was great at Purdue, but was an average head coach in Wyoming.

Worth pointing out he was a finalist at Minnesota in 2007.

I see zero chance Bohl would consider Purdue. I don't think he'd jump at just any P5 offer, it has to be the right fit. To me, there are only a couple of "right fits" for him. Purdue isn't one of them.
