Blankenbaker Enters Portal

I'm not terribly surprised. I think Bohls lost a lot of trust with his players. It would be awfully hard for a player to believe in his vision at this point.

We will know tomorrow in Bohl’s presser. Another plausible explanation is that he is graduating in December and looking for grad schools. Bohl let TVW play in the bowl game after announcing an intent to transfer so it’s possible. But I would bet he will not be available for the bowl game.

This will be a big challenge next year as you point out. Wyoming loses its best tacklers and guys that have a nose for the ball in Muma and Blankenbaker. Chuck Hicks transferring before the season is all the worse. Easton Gibbs will be relied on heavily.

For the most part I’ve thought this before but have always been surprised on how players have stepped up and maintained a relatively good D. I’m afraid that run may come to an end.
 
According to Bohl - Blankenbaker’s departure is very amicable with Keyon having already earned a degree and looking to move on. Blankenbaker will not play in the bowl game. Best of luck to him!
 
I believe the new rule is you can increase your class size by 1 for each transfer in the portal.

I would like to see us grab a transfer qb just to add a bit more competition to who becomes starter next year.

I'm sure these are pipe dreams, especially since Bohl basically ignores the portal, but Bo Nix from Auburn and Zach Calzada from Texas A&M both just entered the portal. Calzada is coming from a pro style system and has a big arm.

I believe the overall scholarship limit remains the same. I doubt Wyoming even has the ability to sign a full class given that every player on the roster (other than true freshmen) received an extra covid year of eligibility. I bet very few schools sign a full recruiting class for the next couple of years.
 
The next 2 weeks will be interesting and important for Wyoming form a transfer portal perspective. Players that just recently played in bowl games are now entering the portal. I’d imagine that trend will continue.

Little surprised...but...this is the way nowadays. I don't see him as that hot of a prospect...great rushing game in the bowl game...but pretty average overall.
