Bitching

If it makes you feel any better, I will be moving from Fairbanks, Alaska to Omaha, Nebraska this summer...driving all 3600 miles of it over 13 days. Gonna keep them short days though, because of my 4 year old and two dogs. We're also going to drive through at least three national parks (2 in Canada and Glacier in Montana). We will also stop through Great Falls and Cheyenne for three days each, which are not included in the 13 days of driving.

You going to do the Waterton/Glacier loop?
I'll be coming down out of Canada by way of Cranbrook, through Whitefish, through Glacier on the Road to the Sun (or whatever it's called) on my way to Great Falls.

That's a good loop. Sun Road isn't opening until July this year.. Obummer's sequester is delaying the opening of the park fully. There's a place in Hungry Horse that makes terrific huckleberry milkshakes.. you know, a snack for driving over the pass. The hike into Hidden Lake at the top of Logan Pass is worth stopping for too. If you can sneak off for a quick side trip, instead of driving straight to Great Falls after you come off the pass, go north and head into Swift Current Lake (not too far).. saw some bears in there last summer, one hiking on the rocks above us, and a pack of 3 grizzlies eating an elk carcass. Swift Current Lake is definitely worth seeing.

Love love love.

My brother and I did a Glacier tour last summer before he deployed to Afghanistan.. we did lots of trekking around the park. My favorite spot to go in the summer.

I'll be many days in on a 19 day trip with my wife, 4 year old son, and two dogs. We are planning on stopping and seeing things, and each travel day has 200-250 miles scheduled...but by that point, we may be tired of traveling to go see and do too much.

Just found out that my grandmother's brother and his wife are selling off my great-grandfather's 1939 Chrysler (unrestored). The problem is, is that when my great-grandfather died, we ALL decided it would remain in the family. And, unrestored (needs it badly both inside and out), the oil hasn't even been changed in it for who knows how long, they are selling it for $10,500. This really peeves off my one uncle in Nevada as he had hopes to one day get it and fully restore it (no mods). But it would probably take $10,000 just to restore it, for parts and paint and what not.

Yeah, this has me pretty pissed to.

A water valve broke last night (wet snow and then froze probably), so right now, no water. The city is working right now to fix it, but jeez.
