Bills win

So happy Bills won and hoping like hell they can beat the Chief + stripes.

Also feel terrible for Mark Andrews. I'm not a Ravens fan but that's gotta be really tough to live with.

Lamar threw a crappy pass. Low and flat are awful passes. Not a very MVP-like throw.

Lamar also threw a horrible ball to Henry, which he dropped, on what would have been a long gain or a TD. Lamar lost them the game by not being good enough. The passes Lamar completed any HS QB could have also completed.

There is no such thing as a throw that couldn't be better. All QB's (including Josh Allen) make sub-perfect throws that receivers turn into gold....that being said, neither of the throws you referenced are throws that a pass catcher in the pros could not handle at a high success rate. Lamar made two really bad plays....one got picked and he dropped the ball on the ground trying to escape pressure....other than that, he played very well. Unfortunately for him....if you make just one or two really bad plays in the playoffs on the road...it's not going to end well.

The throw to Henry should have been aTD. It was a horrible throw that cost them 7. Most NFL QBs throw a better pass in that situation. I don’t think he played that well

Cost them 7? ... You mean the throw followed by a 40 yard dart and then a passing touchdown three plays later?...Yeah..that didn't cost the Raven's anything. The reality of that underthrown ball is, that pass is caught over 90% of the time in the NFL and it didn't matter because the Raven's offense scored anyways. Josh missed a very open Mack Hollins on a pretty routine deep ball with his first pass....and, like Lamar, still finished the drive off with a touchdown.

If you want to talk about costing them...the play that he dropped the ball is the one that is rookie level bad. The Ravens have a better roster than the Bills and they lost primarily because of the two Lamar turnovers and the phenomenal punch-out by by Bernard. The Bills created this by getting home-field advantage for this game in a season that they were not supposed to do much ... mostly because Allen was insanely efficient and at times magnificent all year. For my money...he's the MVP. Lamar played a very good game....with two really bad miscues. In the divisional round, against a good team, that is enough to lose. If you watched the game and thought Lamar didn't "play that well".....well...I guess you are entitled to your opinion.

2 TOs isn't playing that well unless you throw 5 TDs and 300 yards.

Lamar himself agrees with that take.... (Except for the part about 5 touchdowns and 300 yards making it better). Winning is what makes it better. You can absolutely win with two turnovers. Particularly if the other side makes a mistake or two.

When players don't "play well", it's obvious in the stat line (see the box score Allen put up at Baltimore early in the season). That is not what happened for the Ravens at Highmark on Sunday. This was the textbook "good game, but....". Football particularly lends itself to this but it happens in basketball too. Did the player that scores 36 and gets 4 steals but commits one bad turnover leading to a fast break game losing layup play "not that well"? That's the basketball version of what Lamar did. It is "good game, but...". Losing plays will wash out an otherwise good performance...happens all the time.

It's part of why sports are fun to watch.

A QB ends up with "good" stats when they are playing from behind, like Lamar. QBs have efficient games like Josh when playing with the lead. LAmar is fool's gold, obviously, as he's proven time and time again when it actually matters.

......Sort of. If you separate out QB's who play from behind you will see lower completion percentages, more turnovers, more sacks, lower QBR and higher yardages. When you are behind you have to start taking chances and when you take chances, you get the explosives but you also get the bad (See the Detroit Lions in the divisional round).

In the case of good to great QB's....like Mahomes, Allen, and yes...Lamar, they have shown that they can actually turn it on and minimize the bad stuff that tends to happen to lesser QB's when they have to start playing hero-ball. Lamar's mistakes happened in the first half and when trying to play catch-up, he did very well. That is what good QB's do....Doesn't mean you are going to win...obviously. It just gives you a chance that you don't have if Trevor Lawrence is your QB. It's why Patrick and Josh are so dangerous...they can go on a heater for a half and demolish you despite a slow or bad start. Lamar nearly did that if not for a beautiful punch out by Bernard and an uncharacteristic drop by a tight end. Even if he caught the 2 pt conversion, I think the Bills get a score to win though.

My only criticism of Lamar Jackson: Prove you can win beyond the wildcard round.
It's the same as my criticism of Prime: Prove you can win in the postseason (he's O-fer between Jackson State and CU).
Same with Nolan Arenado: Prove you can win in the postseason. He faded in the postseason every time he got there.

That was what a lot of people have said about Josh....Going into the Baltimore game he was 1-4....now he's 2-4 in the divisional round. Lamar is now 1-4 in the divisional round. Of the current QB's not named Patrick...who has a winning divisional round record? Is it only Jalen Hurts? I think Burrow is 1-1

Mahomes and Reid are doing the same thing that the Brady/Belichick patriots did ... they suck all the wins/championships out of an era and everybody looks worse in comparison. It's not like there were not good coaches/teams/QB's during that era just like there is now...but dynasties grab all the championships and wins.

Josh is 2-3 in the divisional round now. In one of the losses he played about as good as you can play without winning the game.

Burrow is 2-0 but the Bengals have now missed the playoffs back to back years. Hurts is 2-0 but has been blown out in the wildcard twice as well.

Whoops, yes..I knew that was his second win in the divisional round....not sure why I though there were 4 losses. Nonetheless...When you have to start slicing and dicing records by playoff round you get small sample sizes pretty quick. All the QB's not named Patrick will have something about them that you can hold against them.....even while they are obviously top 5 in the league.

The key difference between KC and teams like the Bills and Ravens is not the QB, its the head coach. Put Allen or Jackson with Chiefs and they win just as many titles as with Mahomes. Put Mahomes on the Bills or Ravens and he gets the can't win the Super Bowl tag like Allen and Jackson
Harbaugh won a superbowl with Joe Flacco. Andy Reid never won a superbowl without Mahomes.

I saw something on twitter earlier in the season showing the differences in types of plays called depending on if the team is leading or behind. Buffalo, who has been leading for the majority of the season, is just like most teams in that they throw more when behind and run more when ahead. I think its... interesting.... to note that Baltimore was the opposite. They threw more this season when ahead and let Henry run the ball more when behind. That is exactly what they did that entire 3rd quarter that got them back into that game. Let Henry dominate. If that doesn't say something about how the people who know Lamar the best (his coaches) see him then I don't know what does. Their actions speak louder than their words.
