Instead, Baldwin and the minions market in Buffalo New York (1500 miles away)? UW gets free JA press regardless in Buffalo, seems like useless spending, or spending that could be directed to a closer area, that will actually grow student enrollment and similar.

Buffalo is a down and out rustbelt city, Colorado is an up and coming state and is actually our target market. Make it make sense

Perhaps that's why? No one wants to move from glorious to colorado to dumpster wyoming? I remember when oil and gas was really screaming, they advertised in rustbelt, coal country. They didn't try stealing people from Florida. Just a thought

It's an interesting thought experiment. Do we try drawing more from a place we already draw from a lot? Or are we tapped out regionally? It's almost as if some kind of marketing dept or something could tell us these kinds of things. More market share of a narrower market or get into new markets?

Josh Allen is great, but this is the next in a long line of ideas that basically boil down to "Hey, remember the best thing about Wyoming athletics is that Josh Allen played here for two years almost decade ago!!!"

I don’t hate this. What we’ve been doing in the past obviously isn’t working as reflected by our declining enrollments. For out of state, Wyoming now pretty much costs a Colorado resident what CU would. Try something new. If it fails, we can mark that strategy off the list.

My middle daughter is a rising senior and wants to attend UW. She has a very good academic profile (top 20 ranking in a class of about 700, top 1% SAT score). Applications have not opened yet, so we do not know the exact scholarship package she will be offered, but she and I have both met with an admissions counselor at UW and they told us to expect about $8-12k in scholarships. That’s great, but that doesn’t even fully cover out of state tuition and then you have room and board on top of that. If she stays in Texas, we expect that she will receive close to a full ride scholarship package - this is based on our oldest daughters experience two years ago who had a very similar academic profile.

I know the money has to come from somewhere, but it highlights the enrollment issues UW is facing. In-state student population has been mostly stagnant for decades, and the money isn’t there to attract high performing out of state students. I’m really not sure what the answer is, but it is the single biggest issue the new president needs to figure out.
