Biggest game of DC's career....

I think there's been too many comparisons to the recent past. Looking at it from a 5-10 year POV, Wyoming's really in need of a decisive road win against an historically worthy opponent. This game sets it up nicely, along with, so far at least, an over-achieving defense (Wyoming's weakest link since DC took over) and an offense with serious top 25 potential.

I think we're due, and I think we can afford the fee.

I think you're right. This game is definitely a fork in the road for this program. IF they can show that they can curbstomp a "rival" team they should be extremely motivated to beat, we could seriously be headed down the road of success finally... if we choke and lose against a rival we should beat, though... it's the same ol' story of disappointment. :(

This game will help determine where we are as a program. Win it, and it shows we're going in the right direction. Lose, and it's the same old shit. Either way I still see us beating Texas State, NM, CSU and Hawaii, for a minimum 6-6 season. But that would be 6 pretty weak wins. Maybe the worse team in the FBS, an FCS team and a team that was recently an FCS team. Not a great resume, but maybe enough to make a bowl game and help recruit for the future. I'm with JC on this one, it's huge!

I have been so focused on Howdy Doody, and the rant, and Wyo potentially blowing AFA out and being put in the top echelon with USU and Boise, I forget to think about how big it would be if the Pokes lost.
I totally agree, if Wyo loses, it is the same old shit.
If Wyo wins, especially wins big, the corner has been turned. Well, at least almost turned.
A loss to AFA tomorrow, even on the road will make me forever convinced it is impossible to do well at UW in football.
A win would be awesome. A big win, would be so exciting!
I will say the Pokes have turned the corner when they are sitting 6-1 and #25 in the country.

We won't be ranked if we are 6-1. Exactly ZERO (0) wins will be considered quality wins. If everything goes perfect and we manage to go 7-1 (HUGE HUGE IF), then yes I believe we will be ranked.

Yet when Boise beat up on all those shit wac teams for years they didn't have many "quality" wins.
At a certain point, when you have that many more wins than losses they give you the benefit of the doubt.

Boise deserved to be ranked because they were good for a sustained period and were coming off good years. We won't be ranked at 6-1 (if we are fortunate enough to be 6-1). The MWC has been awful in OOC football this year.

Quality wins really don't matter in football unless you are undefeated. You will get in the top 25 if you start piling up the wins, you just won't crack the top 10. Boise certainly proved that. If we want to follow the Boise model we should play the weakest schedule possible for a sustained number of years.

Not happening next year. We face Oregon and Michigan State in back to back games.

Mariota and DAT will be gone....but still......the Ducks are terrifying in September. Few teams leave Autzen without losing by 40+ points in that month. And they look scary on the D-Line now too.

Michigan St. is great on defense.....and pretty much the opposite on offense.

Looking forward to the Michigan State game, probably going go make the trip over to East Lansing for that. Should be fun to see Brett as a senior go out with a bang. I'm going to call upset right now, the Pokes will win one of those two games next season.

We would have a decent shot at being ranked at 6-1,but we may need to win a few more to make it. SJSU and Utah st. are two schools from last year that ended up being ranked with out having historically successful programs. What held them back from being ranked earlier in the season was the fact that they both had 2 losses by October. If they had been 6-1 they could have been knocking on the door of the top 25 (as they did in later in the year). They both played weak schedules as well, similar to ours this year.

Next year our offense is full of fantastic seniors. Our defense is deeper and better. I want to see the game played out. Michigan is beatable. So is Oregon. Do people automatically think we lose against these programs? I think this years Pokes can play with anyone in the country. Maybe not beat them all, but can certainly play with them and be competitive.

I will be at the Oregon game for sure. I doubt I can go to Michigan for MSU though.
Anyways.......
Those are next year....tomorrow on the other hand....AFA.
I am finally done with school stuff for the week and am fucking STOKED for tomorrow!
Yeah, right, look at me Mr. Howdy Fucking Doody!
