I may be in the minority here but what he did is no big deal. Last year, we had 3 players at the Buckhorn until it closed. No problem there except for the fighter (or kicker). When I was in college, we all smoked a little weed. As far as I'm concerned, it should be legal, even though I haven't smoked it in 15 years.

I realize what he did was illegal. Maybe Wyoming needs to change it's laws. In a state that values personal freedom, it seems silly to keep pot illegal while kids are getting drunk every weekend.

While I agree weed should be legal (I think the stuff is disgusting as well as drinking but I also like freedom) I disagree when you say everyone was fine with guys being out at the buckhorn. It pissed most of us off. I think Larry should have had his boys under curfew. FFS they were 13-0 and ranked!

Whether or not it should be illegal or not is not the issue. It IS illegal, and he should know better. As a student athlete at the D1 level, he should be staying away from shit like that, anyways. Oh, and doing illegal drugs is not a "well, everyone does it so it should be ok" topic. It's against the law. Period.

If I were a coach, I would have ZERO tolerance for that kind of shit. Drugs, underage drinking, theft...all offenses get the boot. These are young men who signed up to represent the University, and thus the state of Wyoming. They should not be out embarrassing themselves, our school, and our state. Period.

Agreed. Don't these guys realize that there is a huge spotlight on them? You can't be an athlete and expect to get away with anything. If you do something that can be construed as wrong I can all but guarantee that it will show up in the paper or, at the very least, on this message board.

yeah if a rule is a rule and you know it'll probably jeopardize your career, scholarship, then steer clear, i think that's easy to understand, sure I got a DUI when I was in Laramie, did I learn anything, sure, I know mistakes happen, but until Mary Jane is legal nationwide/statewide then Illegal is Illegal, and it's probably against all the bylaws and codes of conduct to play sports for a University, end of story, i hate how everyone jumps on the acceptance for something that in the laws and regulations is a illegal act........behind closed doors have at it but as a scholarship athlete "during your season" anyone who's anyone knows they should probably steer clear...

I agree. I'm just questioning the severity of the punishment if he is indeed suspended for the rest of the season. Make him do some community service or something but let him at least play in the tournament.

the hearing is on Mar. 13 so he won't be making it to LV as we'll be there b4 that, what I'd like to see(if that felony issue with that Shaw at Utah St was dropped and he's playing, why can't Hank play when he's only been cited and not arrested, afterall we sure could use him the rest of this season)

Because he probably broke a team rule with what he did and Papa Shy is holding him accountable for his actions. Good on him!

I agree with what you said, but good luck telling that to an 18-22 year old athlete, doubt they see it the same way unfortunately.

Yes, they do test for it. In fact, the limit of THC that results in a positive test was lowered this year from 15 nanograms/milliliter to 5ng/ml. Some are speculating that that level is low enough to test positive from second-hand exposure.
