Best win in many years

Could this be the 5-0 run to finish at .500? It wouldn’t be a top 6 finish this year but a rare level of success at 10-10.

9-11 would be the 6th best season in conference play in the last 23 years. It’s been a constant diet of suck for so long that yes, a road win against a program with a consistent winning record feels like the best win in years.

10-10 would be a tie for the 4th best conference finish since 2003. Only 5 seasons of .500 or better seasons in the last 23.

How many current UW students were born after 2003? Most I speculate. No wonder why the student section has evaporated into irrelevance. It used to be everything that it currently is at GCU, USU and SDSU. It became electric starting in the field house around 1977 and continued in the AA until Burman converted the AA into the Wyoming Hospice Center where dreams go to die. I’m talking hundreds to a couple thousand students as avid basketball fans at nearly every game for over 25 years.

Conference Seasons Since 2003:
3 over .500
2 at .500
17 losers with 1 season at 2 wins (Burman internal hire) being the worst since a winless 1974. This season is likely to be the 18th losing season since 2003.

It’s been bad for a long time! Burman is in his 19th season. Hoops under Burman have 2 seasons over .500, 1 at .500 and 16 under .500.

Something happened in 1977 named Charles Bradley in the field house. The AA came to life at a new Dembo level and pretty much stayed that way with a number of memorable names until it started fading after 2003 and the end of Marcus Bailey. Not too many notables playing with complete teams since 2003 as the empty seats became the new norm. A few hiccups of excitement sandwiched in with years of crushing disappointment leaves us saying a win at GCU is the biggest win in years and it’s not an exaggeration.
