On Thursday, our remaining wrestlers will head to Philadelphia to compete. Right now: 149 Gabe Willochel (#30 seed), 157 Jared Hill (#13 seed), 184 Eddie Neitenbach (#19 seed), 197 Joey Novak (#15 seed), HWT Sam Mitchell (#30 seed). Wyoming could get another guy in the brackets but will require a 141 to drop out and that would insert 141 Cole Brooks into the bracket at the #33 seed.
I am not going to sit here and try and dissect the brackets and play the what if game on if they win what will happen next for them. Every year you read about a 33 seed becoming an AA (Wyatt Sheets) or a 26 seed busting brackets on their way to an AA (VomBaur). We can look internal and see a 14 seed in Bryce Meredith making a run into the finals out of nowhere. You even have stories of guys having to grind through the consolation bracket to AA; Jore Volk last year. Three wins gets you into AA world!
The boys seemed to have wrestled tight at the Big 12s in certain matches; in the NCAA you must be the aggressor and attack the opponent. Wyoming lagged on the road at times this year but absolutely showed up in Laramie. Wells Fargo Arena is now your UniWyo and listen to the crowd because they love the Pokes. We want to see a coach get sent through chairs in celebration again. We are proud of the season you have had this year, and the fans want more to celebrate with you and your family.
