I've been in Columbia for almost 6 years now. I've seen a lot of Mizzou and WYO football with DC on both sides. There's not doubt the play calling has suffered since DC left...it's pretty obvious, and the South Carolina and CSF games the last 2 weeks have cemented that in my mind. DC and Pinkel coached together for YEARS at multiple stops...I don't think it's crazy to speculate a reunion between the 2 would be unwelcome just because they don't glowingly endorse each other on a daily basis. They don't play in the same conference, and Mizzou and WYO never play each other (until 2018 of course). I can't remember the last time a local media member even brought the subject up. FYI...I'm not a big Pinkel fan, but I do respect that he's won WAY more football games at Mizzou than anyone ever has here. That aside, he pretty much seems like an ass, and in contrast to DC, no one in Columbia has ever come up to me and said how much they like Pinkel.
I say it's your wet dream because it's obvious you want DC gone...it's cool. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that. I quite honestly just don't get all the hate. I know several people here in Columbia who have close relationships with DC and they all speak very well of him. In fact, all I've ever heard is DC is a very conservative dude who likes to do the things the old fashioned way...hard work and sacrifice. In this regard, it's my perspective (and this comes from sources in direct personal conversations with DC) that he likes Wyoming and Laramie for exactly these reasons. He's instilled this into the program at UW and I think we all know discipline was sorely lacking, despite Joe Glenn was a great guy who no doubt we would have all loved to succeed at Wyoming. We've also been to 2 bowl games in 3 years which we haven't seen as POKES fans since the Tiller years. Has it been a perfect marriage...I'll be the 1st to admit it hasn't. There has been some serious inconsistency and the defense has been awful. However, I think DC deserves credit for changing things up when they aren't working by hiring guys like Brandon and Tormey. Maybe Tormey won't work out as well as Brandon has, but it's still a risk worth taking. Despite the fact the defense has been awful his year, I would say the team looks as much like those wacky WAC days as it has in a long time in regards to the offense. I could care less DC is zinging Ault...I think it spices things up a little bit in a dull coach speak world...and you're right, Saturday is gonna be more interesting than POKES fans might have thought and if it was in Laramie, there would be some colorful adjectives tossed around at the Wolfpack by the student section!
And yah, DGB is a hot topic here in Columbia today Mr. T. He hasn't made that big an impact until last week though...we'll see how Pinkel handles it.
