I'm all for optimism.....but sorry, that's just a bit much. I'm always looking for the objective opinion.....most non-Wyoming fans think the team is a fringe bowl candidate. Which is about right.....come on now, lets be real....they did go 4-8 last season. Best looking win: New Mexico? The team will improve, but not dramatically.[/quote]
I am actually not that optimistic we will be all that better next year, but we were four possessions from being 8-4 you can say what you want but that is true. I just think with the easy schedule that we have they should win between 6-10 games next year. 6 if they don't improve a whole lot and injuries and things come up and up to 10 IF everything goes right. The MW is not that good in football right now and the nonconference schedule is very weak. The offense with DC calling plays and everyone a year older will be improved. The defense is the question and is what makes it a range of 6-10 wins. I don't think it is overly optimistic it is just looking at the very bad schedule we have next year and the talent we have coming back I see 6-10 wins depending on how things go.

I get that, but one could argue Wyoming had a terrible schedule last season too. This team lost to Cal Poly and nearly lost to Idaho for crying out loud. Only once did Wyoming pound someone last season (CSU), the rest were close down-to-the-wire wins. My point: there are not as many for-sure gimmes on the schedule next season as you think....I have Wyoming at anywhere from 5-7 wins, but anything north of 8 wins just seems like the brown gold shades are on pretty tight. JMHO.
 
I would agree with that J-Rod. I just don't see us losing so many people to injuries as we did last year, also I do see a little more depth so that if they happen we can actually make up for it a little. That is why I have such a wide range of 6-10 I do see us being a better team this year and hopefully having a few things bounce our way, but there is no way to tell. If everything goes perfectly and we have limited injuries that is where I see the 10 wins. If we have the injury bug like last year and some late game things go wrong again then I could see as low as 5. I just look at it from a perspective of all those close losses usually means a team is ready to have a big year the next year if they are bringing everyone back like we are. I have seen it happen a lot where a young team has a bunch of close losses like we did and finish 3-9 and 4-8 and then the next year they reel off 8-10. I don't know if that will happen to us, but I see the potential to actually be there with the added depth the redshirt class and the jucos will have on the team.
 
This list tells me that the Mountain West will be a very competitive conference led by good QBs. Great to see that publicity.

I believe Brett is the most talented QB of the MW bunch. That kid from Utah State is right in line with him.
 
With 5 MWC qb's in the top 25...and we all know that New Mexicos offense is gonna be running the ball a lot. and Boise State is gonna have a pretty solid offense, just because it is Boise State, and SDSU is not gonna be a weak offense, we are definintely gonna see more shootouts this season.

Wyo and Brett Smith can compete this season if the offense gets going in the 2nd half.

No more 21 in the first half then 7 in the second half.

Everyone says the D has to improve, and even if the D is improved, the O's in the MWC are gonna be even better so it might not reflect it statistically.
I hope to see many games that are in the 40's and 50's.

As a fan, it would be sweet to see those exciting games. Frustrating when your team blows a 7 point lead in the final 2 minutes but even more awesome when they score in the final seconds to win.
 
After last season (plus the basketball season), I've learned my lesson and the phrase "such-and-such game should be a win" is not longer in my vocabulary.
