Austin Fort vs. Taven Bryan

I don't really follow hs football much but just checked some standings. Gillette is 5-0. Natrona is 3-2. But if you count 0 Week, which I don't know if that is pre-season or not, NC is 3-3 and Gillette is 6-0.
I know that Fort has the ball in his hands every play of the game, and can have a bigger impact on the game than 1 O-Lineman, but from what I have heard, NC has a pretty big O-Line. 2 of them are playing college ball next year (Bryan-Florida, and another kid at a D2 school I think). Plus Gillette beat NC by 1 point.

Shouldn't Bryan and that O-Line be able to dominate everyone they play in Wyo? Shouldn't they just be able to wreck D-Lines and LBs and let their RBs run for 250 yards a game?

Either way, I am getting a little bit more excited about Fort being committed to Wyo.
I haven't seen any stats at all on him, just know that his team is doing work, like Gillette always does, but it is a good sign that the future Poke is still undefeated.

Fort's stats last year, according to the rivals site, are:
Passing- 52.5% for 2,147 yards. 14 TDs 13 ints.
Rushing- 735 yards 10TDs.

So a real dual threat guy. Not sure on his current stats, but looks like he could do with some better decision making with the passing game.

Is Fort even the best quarterback on his team????

Seriously

Peace

He might have been recruited as an "Athlete", since I would also question if he is the best QB on the Camel roster.

Yes, 0 Week is regular season. It allows the 4A teams an extra week so that they can all play each other, thus their being 9 games vs. 8 for everyone else.

I saw Fort play last year, and he was very green, definitely has the physical stature to be a D1 QB or DE or WR, but he will certianly need some polishing.

Perhaps "The Token Wyoming" scholarship?

The state of Wyoming is pretty well represented in the NFL...especially per capita. And, I'm pretty sure we don't offer scholarships just to offer scholarships. Does everything have to have a negative connotation?

I don't think the state of Wyo is represented well in the NFL.
Sure a few players out of such a small population looks good, but the reality is it's like what 2, or 3 players?
Diamonds in the rough for sure. Not the norm.

Pro Bull Riding. Now that is where the state of Wyoming is represented well in.

Oh My misguided Jimmydimes.......if you think for one moment that colleges don't offer scholarships for political reasons you have your head in the sand. I assure you that they do, particularly in smaller populated states like Wyoming. It is a strategic move to satisfy boosters and is almost an expectation. Does it happen every year, no. It all depends on the atmosphere and the amount of pressure that boosters put on the program.

I am not sure what the criteria is for a football scholarship, however I know that my son was the Milward Simpson award winner, and arguably the best football player in the state at his position and he wasn't offered a scholarship. However he does play a position where the Pokes are very deep. He is fortunate to be mentored my two of the best in college football (Dom and Rob)

Look at the number of NFL players from the state of Montana.. it's a staggering number.

I read something a few years back regarding Wyoming and per capita NFL players. I think there were 4 Wyoming born players in the league at one time....Brady Poppinga, Zane Beadles (I was thinking Prosinski), Chris Cooley, and John Wendling making it the highest per capita of any state. This was a couple years ago however. edit. It was 5. Prosinski was born in Wyoming but not on the list. It looks like Montana could very well be leading that stat this year.

They're missing a couple from Montana, Hilliard w/ the Jets, Carpenter w/ the Bills. Wyoming is decently represented. Wendling and Chris Pro are certainly helping. Though, dunno if we'll have any natives going pro any time soon.

Odd.. JD Folsom is listed being from Worland, but he would have been one or two classes behind me in HS, and he definitely wasn't in my HS. His wiki says born in Idaho.

Were those guys born in MT? Or just raised there?

Wyo has a couple more guys that grew up here but were born elsewher
