Sunny was screwed in putting together a roster this year. This can hardly even be called year 1. I would bet we are much more competitive next year. If you really want to blame someone for this year, he currently pouts on the bench at Texas Tech.Seriously, what did any of you expect? We are 4-11 in the MW. Two wins are vs. an 0-14 AF team and a 1 win Fresno st. team that took us to overtime. Even Air Force has played some teams tough this year. The fact that we played SDS and NM tough is meaningless. We are one of the worst teams in the conference and that isn't going to change. If you watched the game yesterday, can you honestly say that Wyoming has a single player that would start on CSU? We only have 1 or 2 players that would ever see the floor for CSU.
It bogles my mind that Tom Burman has a job when the 2 revenue producing sports are very nearly the worst in the conference. All that money spent on renovating the AA instead of spending it on players and coaches is the dumbest decision ever made. Look at csewe's crummy little gym. They fill it because they win. Now, we spend a fortune on the the War and try to save money on coaches and players. If UW were a corporation, Tom Burman and the BOT would have been kicked to the curb a decade ago.
I like Sundance Wicks. But he doesn't have a chance when his budget is miniscule compared to the other schools in the MW. Pathetic.
Still suspended.Anybody know why Scotty E. hasn’t been getting any playing time the last few games?
I did not know this. Thank you for the response. It’s disappointing because it looked like he had some raw talent that could be honed through solid coaching and playing time.Still suspended.
Incredible athletic talent. My guess is he is probably gone at season’s end (could be wrong).I did not know this. Thank you for the response. It’s disappointing because it looked like he had some raw talent that could be honed through solid coaching and playing time.
That doesn't even mention the $60 million for a swimming pool when there is already a top notch facility right across the street the Burman wanted no involvement with or the $80 million for the football stadium upgrades. Just terrible decisions by the people in charge at UW. Can't wait for the exciting home matchups with UTEP and New Mexico with out half full stadium and wonderful chairback seating and suites. You could see college athletics was in turmoil when UW proposed these facilities to the legislature (well people that followed college athletics could see college football and athletics in general was in turmoil). UW's leadership was clueless and we are about to see some of the worst spent money in the history of the state of Wyoming.Seriously, what did any of you expect? We are 4-11 in the MW. I forgot. It seems strange that a head coach who had significant success at his prior job and some success here would just up and leave to take an assistant job. It's also strange that when he left, there weren't a gaggle of great coaches lining up to be his successor. Is it possible that the financial support necessary to be successful in our dinky little conference is woefully inadequate? Just throwing that out there as a possibility.Sunny was screwed in putting together a roster this year. This can hardly even be called year 1. I would bet we are much more competitive next year. The dude is a junior. This is his fourth year playing college basketball. If he hasn't figured it out by now, I doubt he ever gets it figured out.I did not know this. Thank you for the response. What Sunny has been able to get out of this band of misfits is nothing short of miraculous. He's clearly a hell of a coach. When he's able to get a full recruiting cycle or two under his belt we're going to be MUCH improved.Sunny was screwed in putting together a roster this year. This can hardly even be called year 1. I would love to think the same way, but with NIL and the portal, I am not sure a few recruiting classes will make much difference, if you can't pay to play. Sad state of affairs, but it is reality. What Sunny has been able to get out of this band of misfits is nothing short of miraculous. He's clearly a hell of a coach. He's got to be able to retain guys. Continuity in college basketball is gone and has been. The roster was almost completely flipping each year under Linder. Programs like Wyoming are going to deal with this every year no matter who the coach is I'm afraid.I think two years and we’ll see a lot of improvement. Needs to find a legit point guard and a big or two.
There will definitely be a ton of roster turnover, but he's the kind of coach that will be able to convince players to stick around. Make no mistake, we're going to lose players like Graham Ike, but we won't lose guys like Branden Wenzel or Caden Powell with Sunny at the helm. He's got to be able to retain guys.
