Assuming we win out. What are the odds Laramie hosts the mwc championship in Laramie?

I understand there is a lot of football left to be played but this team has me thinking big.

Agreed. If we win out, we'll get SDSU at home twice in two weeks. That UNLV game scares the chit out of me though, more so than any other.

It would take some other losses by WMU and possibly some AAC teams, but if we win out, we might be getting the big check from the Cotton Bowl as well. It's not impossible we end up as the highest rated conference champion from the G5 conferences.

The next question is what kind of a crowd would you expect in December in Laramie if it happens?

3 weeks with a trip to New Mexico in between.

Wouldn't THAT be something!

There's a lot of potential money sitting out there for us this year. We've already earned 1 million in bonus money. The UNM game has a chance to pay us another .5 million. There's a very good chance that money comes through. The host team for the championship game gets the biggest cut of that games revenue. I'm not exactly sure how that works, but on the MWCboard they we're speculating that it's worth 300 K. Even if we don't host, we still get a bigger cut than teams that don't qualify for that game.

The real payday would be getting into the Cotton Bowl. That would be a god send for the athletics department right now. We would keep most of that check and it's a huge one.

All of this is coming with a season when our attendance average is about to go up by 2-3 K per game.

With the state revenue, this couldn't have come at a better time.

Hopefully the football gods are in favor of Wyoming again and allow us to capitalize on some of this money, since they relegated us to the wilderness for 16 years. :)

I am more scared of New Mexico.

I like how we match up with option teams, especially ones that are one dimensional before you even take the field against them. Their qb couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a handful of rice.

New Mexico is a run heavy offense and I think that plays into Wyomings strength. I think we should be able to handle them but I'm not the least worried about unlv as they are having a hard time fighting there way out of a wet paper bag right now.

Did you guys watch UNLV on Saturday night? That team is a mess. Got the piss beat out of them by a lousy SJSU team.

New Mexico is the game we need to worry about.

I would expect a sold out War for our first conference championship since joining the MWC.

The game we have to worry about from here until December 4th is the "NEXT" one. I hate when we start looking ahead and worrying about teams down the road. We need to worry about USU and USU alone.

That being said, we have the team to win out and have a helluva a bowl season!

but for the first time in a long time I have been able to dream big as a cowboys fan :) You are correct though we must win the next game on the schedule each week and not look ahead too much.

I think I am more concerned about the SDSU and New Mexico games than I am about the UNLV game.

I know there is an old adage about how difficult it is to beat a good team multiple times. That just makes it unfortunate that SDSU is on the schedule so late in the season.

I definitely think we'll have a rough time with SDSU no matter what. Their one loss was a terrible game, but aside from that one and missing too many tackles against Cal, they've made their wins look easy. In their last 4 games, they've allowed less than 800 yards total.

The other ones are all games we should win at this point, but if we're having an off night while the opponents are on, we'll lose every time, regardless of who it is.

If we win out the odds are 100% we host it.

Actually, this is incorrect. The host of the MW championship game is determined by whoever has the highest College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee ranking. I would venture to say that SDSU might be higher than UW even if UW beats SDSU in Laramie. However, if SDSU and UW are tied in the CFP ranking, then UW would host as the second tiebreaker is whoever won the game between the two teams.

How crappy would that be if that committee had them ranked higher when we beat them head to head and both would have identical records.
