Assistant coaches salaries

To have a successful program, Wyoming better pay up for the assistant coaches salaries. Can't believe that Wyoming is at the bottom tier. It is embarrassing that the Sheep and A$$tez pay more for their coaches than Wyoming.

To stay competitive, its imperative that this happen. If you can't pay the assistants well, do not EVER expect sustained success in football.

At this point in my life I would like to have just random success. And I don't mean random success as in powerhouse in the 60s then nothing ever again.
I would like A MWC Title every 5 or 6 years. A Bowl game 2 outta 3 or 4 years.
And with the new playoff format a playoff opportunity every....10 years?

We don't have to be competing for the mwc every year. We don't have to win 9 games a year.

Just....freaking win something a lil here and there.

I heard another reason he may have left is cuz when he got switched to RB DC also named himself the offensive coordinator. Heard it from a player and trainer today

DC is gonna be the OC now???? SWEET!

Brandon was demoted before his switch and DC announced to the team he would now be the OC, this happened weeks before brandon said he was leaving

Ya know, everyone here wants to see "Wyo Tough Football". Which is fine and all, but a lot of Wyo Tough football consists of playing people tough as hell win or lose. I would be okay if our offense was not "Wyo Tough" at all but more of a Mizzou offense that can and will score on anyone anywhere that Mizzou had when DC was their OC.

I want to be putting up 35 a game. At least. It might seem unrealistic, but if our D is not gonna be at least in the middle of the conference, we are gonna have to just put up tons of points on people to win. I am okay with that.

Its okay to hope and dream, but definitely brace yourself for disappointment. The offense last year only scored 30+ points 3 times the entire season. I think Smith has all the talent in the world, but I saw nothing from the running game or offensive line that indicated a huge jump will happen this year. He can't do it all, he's proven that time and time again.

Yeah I know. Obviously it is going to start with the O-Line. And then if Wick and May can do anything. From what they showed in their freshman campaign I think they have the ability to do some damage, but we did lose like 3 O-Line starters right?

The WR's are gonna be fuckin good. We have a chance to do something big, a lot of it is gonna be 2nd half adjustments as well.
Maybe the last couple of seasons where we couldn't do anything in the 2nd half was Brandons fault not DCs?
And I think after the Nevada and AFA losses, the team didn't really give a shit but had they won, they could have put up more than 14 on Boise and Fresno.

What ever it is, we have to run the ball better and STOP the run more.
Nothing like scoring in 4 plays in 2 minutes just to give up a loooong sloooow drive where the other team runs it about 10 times per drive and takes 8 minutes, just to have us score right away again then put the D right back out there before they can make ANY adjustments.

Totally agree......its just one of those deals.....easier said than done. The defense improved a little towards the end of the season, but that said, its not a coincidence that those good performances were against terrible teams.

I worry about Smith's health next year....ever since this hit, Brett just seems to be a ticking time bomb.....one good hit and he's done for the season with another terrible concussion. The man is a beast, but his teammates sure don't do him justice. I hope he can stay healthy, but its a given he'll take his share of shots with this O-Line.....Thompson has no chance of being named the starter next season, but that doesn't mean he won't be forced into action again.

BeaverPoke thinks it is great that we lost Gregg Brandon so DC can take over as OC. This is a ridiculous assertion. Unfortunately, we are stuck with DC and his ego.

I don't think it is great we lost Greg Brandon. I think it is great that DC is gonna be the OC. Why is that ridiculous?

Brandon did great in the first half of most games. It's the 2nd half of almost all of the games (short of Idaho) that we could hardly move the ball, let alone score.

Fuck yes. The offense is gonna explode this year.

How do you figure that? I think we are set up for a major, major, letdown.

I have said it many times before, head coaches need to be head coaches...not coordinators. Will history repeat itself and DC end up in the booth instead of on the field "so he has a better view" of what is going on...on the field? Holy shit! I have seen that before at Wyoming...and I care not to see it again.

Oh...and don't give me the Missouri comparison. That is like apples and oranges, and has little relevence here at UW.

Well, I think the offense is gonna explode, well maybe not EXPLODE, but improve significantly because since DC has been here, the offense is the only thing that hasn't sucked and his offensive "mastermind" stuff is the only reason he got hired in the first place. And because he knows he is pretty much on the hot seat and I think he is gonna do everything he can to save his job. It is all speculation and gut feeling.

I doubt we will be like Mizzou's offense from a few years back, but who knows it might appear that way because of the weak D's in the MWC. We might win 10 or so games then face a REAL D in a bowl game and just get rocked. We might win 4 games again because maybe DC is just not a good head coach.
I don't think we are in for much of a let down, because as a whole, the fan base doesn't have huge expectations.
Oh well. Just beat Nebraska and let's see where we go!

I am 100% with BeaverPoke on this I think DC will be much better calling the plays than Brandon was. Brandon started becoming way too conservative in th second half of games and that is on him not DC. DC will be trying to save his job so he is going to be as aggressive as possible for the entire game and put up some big points. He was one of the best offensive coordinators in the country during his time at Mizzou and I think we let it fly here. We have a talented qb who will have gone through three springs already and is ready to lead the offense. Our WR core is very strong and very deep as well with diverse skill sets along it. The Rb position showed potential last year if the O line can improve I do believe we will be putting up at least 30 points a game with DC calling the plays. The O will be good the question is can the d be at least average.

And what if it was DC pulling back on Brandon's reins?

Could be DC's using this season as some sort of crazy audition for a job if he finds him self out of one next January...

What if he was? Then he isn't a good coach. But how will we know?

Don't just think of more reasons to not like DC just because.

But the crazy audition I have thought about.
Maybe he is doing it to save his job, or at least get him another job.
If he focuses more on the offense, we could end up putting up more points. That might win us a lot more games, or that might get him a job as an OC in the Pac12, SEC, or Big12 once he gets fired.

Who knows??? Just let it be.
People are going to be on his back so quick for made up "what-if" situations.
Let's let it go and win some freakin games.
