Only commited to Wyoming so that he could "hold his spot". Probably heading to South Alabama.

The more I read of him, the more I am glad he is not coming to Wyoming.

Agreed. He fell out of love while watching the Cowboys play in 12 degree weather in snow? Dude, that's what football is all about. I don't care how much talent a kid has...if he can't handle a little cold and snow, then he never would have made it here anyways. Is there anyway we could work out a game here in Laramie in November with South Alabama in the next 4 years?

Haven't been on in awhile. Heard from the reporter that did the article. Guys, CJ is not a bad, primma donna, Florida kid in any way. He is a young man who mis-spoke. Also he is not afraid to compete and would not ask for any guarantees of playing time from any coaching staff. He has a personnal relationship with the OC from South Alabama, the guy has a Tampa background. Right now I would say South Alabama is in the lead.

That can change in a hurry. CJ will officially visit Wyoming this weekend from what I'm told.

After following this young man since his pee wee days. Believe me he deserves a pass on some admittedly silly quotes he gave a reporter. Saw CJ during the holidays and he really likes your OC and HC

Don't know if I'll make it to any games with his dad (I never want to see snow) but I'm rooting for you guys.

The one thing I noticed in the article is that the comment about snow did not include a direct quote from CJ. Was that really a factor in CJ's decision making, or a lame attempt to be cute by the writer.

The "hold my spot" quote is disappointing obviously, but it matches up with the quote he gave to a Rivals writer when he decommitted a month ago:

"I committed looking for more offers and nothing was coming around so I opened it up hoping some of these schools would come around."

I don't have anything against him steelbed and I hope he does well wherever he ends up, but it's obvious from multiple quotes that he was never really committed to Wyoming and was hoping for something else.

So apparently he mis-spoke to two different sources then. Pretty bush league using a school to "hold a spot." I hope he thinks really hard if he decides to re-commit, assuming he really is tripping to the WY this coming weekend. No big deal if it's not right for him but a damn shame if he washes out when the last one out might have given his all and been something for the Pokes.

South Alabama might be on the path to D-1A but they are like 12th fiddle in a state that has interest in only two.

South Alabama is a ways away from FBS. They were a brand new football team this year and only played six games or something. The soonest they can move up to FBS is 2012, when the moratorium is lifted, so I can't really see the reasoning in wanting to play for a team who's a ways from FBS, and will be playing in the Sun Belt.. unless it's a matter of family or anything like that, I can't see the rationale of the decision.

He's a 17 or 18-year old kid - expecting him to be media savvy might be asking a little much. I really don't think he meant to slight Wyoming in any way.

Also, knowing a few Florida and SoCal natives, I really wouldn't be surprised if the snow thing was true. Some people just freak out at the thought of it... heck, my friend brought a native Hawaiian girlfriend to Laramie for May 1st once when it was around 35 degrees and generally damp, and she was slightly freaked out the whole time :P
One of my closest friends here in Longmont moved here from San Diego 5 years ago, and he's still having a very difficult time adjusting to the cold, even though he absolutely loves the mountains and the clean air in the summer, hehe.

Guys he has been in contact with the staff. Do any of you think that the staff holds grudges and take into consideration what a 17 year old kid says to a few reporters. It happens the kid made a mistake, granted so every time he comes out of the tunnel you can all boo him. Makes alot of sense to me. I see it as this, a man such as Coach C still is recruiting this kid for a very good reason. Have some faith in that guy. He's done pretty damn good so far.

Don't know much about the South Alabama situation. I do know they are recruiting the area and will be "stealing" some of our kids out of state.

From a talk I had with CJ right before the de-committ it was never a D1 or nothing thing. I'm really hoping he has a great visit and will be getting some updates from his pops all weekend. We look out after our boys down here and coaches talk about other kids visit. We are all hoping it works out for CJ with you guys and your staff recruits our area more and more. Thanks

I am sure the staff doesn't hold a grudge. They recruit 17 year olds for a living, I am sure they have seen and heard it all!

Personally I wish him well wherever he ends up, I didn't mean to sound negative in my earlier post, just kind of pointed out the background and why a few Wyoming fans might be kind of miffed. Most fans don't pay any attention to recruiting or anything, just us die hards on the message boards. You have to admit it is understandable that a few posters might be upset when the message was basically that he was just using us to get "better" offers. Please don't take it as a personal slight to C.J. or anything like that.

I personally hope he does end up at WYO - I was excited about him before the de-commit and I'm sure he'll be welcomed by most if he decides to come. However, if he's not going all in, then he can go elsewhere for all I care.

At 17, I know he's got a lot going thru his head and that he won't be "media savvy" but none the less, I have no doubt that he meant what he said - he said it multiple times to multiple sources. I know it's petty, but the one instance that really rubbed me was when he chose not to mention UW on the show when they were discussing recruiting suitors (maybe it was just editing) - it came across to me, knowing a LITTLE more to the story than the average viewer, that he was embarrassed by the thought of even having to mention them. My gosh, he had been committed to them for months and might have been at the time depending on when the show was taped...

Regardless, I (and likely most others) will welcome him UW if he decides to re-commit - I trust the coach and I am sure there is a place for him on the team. However, he better not bail mid-season because he's cold...
