Arena Auditorium funding speculation.

The last Tom Burman interview on the Sportszone said he expects to have phase 2 funded by July 2014. I know phase one is completely paid for and I'm pretty sure they've collected a couple of million for phase 2. I thought the price tag on phase 2 is somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 million dollars.

So, if those numbers are close to being true, then we need to get 16 million in the next 6 months. This leads me to believe there is a name change in the works for the AA and a big corporate sponsor. In addition, we must have some big donors lined up and some money available for matching funds. Does anyone have any ideas who the corporate donor might be? I'm hoping they manage to get Kenny Sailors name in there somewhere.

Does anyone have any insight on the funding for phase 2 of the AA?

I hope it doesn't end up like I'm expecting it too, but don't be surprised if the name is something like Peabody Court at Encana Arena.

Hopefully a donor will step up and get Kenny Sailors name in there somewhere.

Off Topic Alert:
This reminded me of something I heard when I was in grad school at Wisconsin. The former Chancellor of the university came to class and told us that his #1 job as chancellor was to raise $1 million a DAY. He had to do this through mainly donors/boosters, but also private companies and government entities.

I know that's crazy off topic, but it goes to show you that $16 million in 6 months may not be that absurd a prospect even at a smaller school like Wyo.

Burman is confident he can get it done so I would imagine he has promises/sponsors for most of it.
If you haven't figured it out yet, Burman's a sandbagger, not a visionary. He's got 97.5% of the funding pledged and about 90% collected.

I'm guessing we'll find out tomorrow if the AA is getting a new name
