Wyoming will cover the spread this weekend.

This game will look a lot like the Air Force game. New Mexico isn't any better than Air Force, actually they may be worse than Air Force. The only reason New Mexico is leading the nation in rushing is because of the teams they have played. There defense is terrible.

Wyoming is coming off of a bye and playing at home and they will be ready to play.Wyoming will win by no less than 21 points but probably closer to 28.

Some of you guys need to quit worrying so much.

Our rush defense sucks. We beat AFA by outscoring them, not by outplaying them.

If you out score someone the you've outplayed them. Especially when you win by 33 points still. Option teams will find ways to get their yards. That's practically inevitable. But if you keep the big runs to a minimum and tighten up and don't give them a bunch of scores then you've done your job. WYO held AFA to just two rushing Tds. There passing td was just a really good play. Our DB was all over him and he still managed to catch it.
Besides before the season started I believe a vast majority on here were talking about winning most of our games in shootouts. So why are we complaining about that now. And yeah Nebraska ran for 375 on us AFA 346 and Texas St. 256. 2 of those 3 are known for their rushing ability. Not much of a surprise there. TSU was our only drawback. The season is still young and so is this WYO D, they will get better.
No. When you hold a so-so offense to one or two scores, while racking up your own, you've out-played them. Our defense's effort in that game added up to about a 20% contribution to the win.

Lol we won by 33, we out played them.

AFA passed much more against the Pokes than was expected. Worked fairly well too, since secondary not all that great. Could NM try the same thing? If they have any success early passing, that would open up their run attack even more.

Beaver, if we'd out-played them, they wouldn't have put all those yards and scores on us. An example of being out-played was what Texas State did to us.

From what I've seen, New Mexico just does not like to pass the ball. Plus, Air Force's QB actually had a decent arm. New Mexico's QB is not really allowed to throw too much.

People get too hung up on the fact that a team "gives up points". Who cares as long as you outscore people it doesn't matter! I see Wyoming as a team that is going to beat their opponents by outscoring them. Are they going to have games where their offense fails.....absolutely. But the bottom line is when Brett and the Pokes get into a rhythm they will outscore ig. beat their opponents most of the time!

Wyoming's rushing defense is rated 114 out of 124 nationally. Do you believe New Mexico doesn't know about this stat? This seems to be a trend - not only this year, but the last few years.
Its existed ever since the late Glenn era. Hasn't magically changed.

I really don't know what to think of this game. UNM's rushing attack has been scary good at home. Away from there it really hasn't been all that good, and their defense has been trash against everyone. UNLV scored 56 on them for goodness sake. I could honestly see a final score of something like Wyoming - 56, New Mexico - 35.

Wyoming is exactly a 15-point favorite now with the u/o at 68. So Wyoming is essentially predicted to win somewhere around 41-27. I guess we'll see. I'm done predicting these games. I thought Wyoming would kick their shit out of TSU. Ended up being the exact opposite. CDC's teams continue to be one of the least predictable around.

No one missed your point. We just don't happen to agree with you. You should know this by now.
Disagreeing or admiring the emperor's non-existent clothes?

UNM opponents' rush defense ranking- NMSU- 123, UNLV- 122, Pitt- 54, UTEP- 118

Wyoming's rush defense ranking (without having played UNM)- 114.

Our rush defense sucks.

Lol so....I don't know how many times I have explained this....BUT...
If you have a fast offense, whether you score or go 3 and out, the other team has the ball with 3 minutes. So they get the ball more throughout the game. They will get a lot more possessions than normal. They are going to score more because they get the ball more....
Who gives a shit if you give up 23 when you score 56???
How on earth can you not say they outplayed them?
Back to back to back scores, a forced fumble and recovery on a kick return?
Scoring in the 3rd and 4th to keep the game out of reach?
That isn't out playing them?
REALLY?

And none of this has to do with the fact we've played two of the top 11 rushing teams. One we lost by 3 (Nebraska who is 5-1) and the other we kicked the shit out of by 33 points.

And our rush defense still sucks. If it didn't, AFA wouldn't have gotten over 200 yards and wouldn't have scored 23 points. If it didn't, Nebraska wouldn't have beaten a team that hung over 600 yards offense on them.

Another way to look at it- would those two top 11 rushing teams be top 11 rushing teams if they hadn't played us?

We are a long way from being a top 50 team without a defense.

So, by your logic, possession=score?

I agree with it being ok on giving up points if we score more points, but what happens when we get some bad breaks on offense like fumbles, interceptions, bad penalty calls, and/or injuries to key people - then who will keep us in the game?

I agree with you that Wyoming's rush defense isn't anything special but New Mexico isn't any better than Air Force as an overall team.

Wyoming is in a good spot this week playing at home coming off of a bye and in my opinion they will not only win this week but they will cover the spread. :thumb:

I have no disagreements with you about Wyoming's rush defense though.
