Anyone know why we didn't press Boise their last poss?

I can't help but think, you full court press their asses, with 9.whatever to go...taking them at least 4 to get it across the timeline, and highly increasing the chance the rush something. Nowherepoke, your take?

Damn, to be up 10 at 45 - 35 and piss down our leg...resulting in a complete turnaround with Boise leading at 57 - 50 was something I never would have expected to see. A 22 - 5 run. Holy shit.

Maybe a Timeout should have been called? Shyatt is clearly calling for pressure, but maybe should have took the timeout to sort it out.

We were out of time outs.

Isn't the conventional wisdom that you press up by 2 but not up by 1? Up by 2, only a 3 beats you. Up by 1, any basket or stupid foul beats you.

I know the last time in the game Wyoming pressed the rotation wasn't there and it left a wide open Elongoria for an easy 3 pointer. Boise broke the press with ease, it wasn't nearly as tough as the press the Pokes put on Illinois State in their huge second half run...but maybe the absense of Martinez made the difference, if I remember right he set a school record with 9 steals that game.

I think what Shyatt was thinking was let them try and get something with our D already down there. Because had we tried a press in a hurry like that, maybe 1 player doesn't get down to his spot in time and then Boise gets an easy lay-up.

Even though we lost, I still think it is and was a good choice by Shyatt.
In the end ya just gotta give props to the kid who made the 3. When time was running out he was calm and collected and took that 3 like it was a warm up and swished it.
Heart breaking...after cheering so hard all game then making that run in the end to take the lead from being down 7 then being up 1 felt like we had the game won for sure. Then it was just fuckin stunning and I was speechless. I didn't know what to say. Wanted to cry myself to sleep last night lol

You don't want to lay it on any one person but if you have to point fingers Grabau made a bad decision guarding the ball and not his man. It's a lesson that he will learn from as long as everyone that played learned what not to do I have plenty faith in the team.

The fact that they failed to guard the 3 ball pretty much all game long has me a little worried.

They guarded the 3 well, but Boise was making the shots anyways. Elloriaga had a hand in his face all night, but he was on fire. Not much you can do to stop that except deny him the ball.

If we are going to blame anyone in particular, look at Larry Nance Jr.'s numbers. 1/5 FG with 1 FT made. 4 total points.
Leonard is the star of our team but there is no way we can win with Nance only scoring 4 points.

Or we can look to coach Shy as to why he didn't figure out a way to get Larry more points, or bring in Cooke to score. orrr.......

bottom line...Boise hit a game winning shot.

On a side note...how cool is it that we are dwelling over just one loss? We are complaining about our first loss of the season that happened in 2013

Yep....nice to have a team that exceeds expectations. No Cal Poly-like losses here.

Even if the Brett Smith of our hoops team (Leonard) went down. We would still be able to beat our Cal-Polys (OK PanHandle, Western).

Shyatt>Christensen

I would rather give up three at buzzer than layup with 3 seconds to go because they beat a press. Someone said it. Press up by two but not one. Foul on a press and u can lose or give up a layup. Shyatt did well but it didn't go our way.
