I just wish Laramie had some better non "American" food.

Hallejullah, Laramie's kinda the town that food forgot....lol...there's nothing really knock out special over there, never really was during my stint there 88-93, that's why it was always fun running down to Ft C...
really fun reading these remember whens though.....

or maybe a different take on American. I lived in north carolina for 6 years. how cool would it be to have a lowcountry bbq bar and grill, pulled pork, smoked brisket... real bbq.

or a irish sports bar, that had bangers and mash, heavily influenced with lamb and potatoes... good irish beer. corned beef and cabbage. Guinness stew!
The place that replaced the library could've been that but instead it sucks. There is a BBQ joint on south 2nd I think but I have not tried it yet.

Most college towns have great food. Unfortunately, there is nothing in Laramie that I crave or really look forward to eating. I do the same as you did years ago, go to Denver and foco for good food sadly.

You know what's funny about food in Laramie? With the exception of Cheyenne and Casper, it seems to have the most diverse restauraunts in the state. Seems like everywhere else you go you have a mexican place or two, a steak house or two, and a subway. Disclaimer: I'm just talking about the state of Wyoming here - not other places.

The yellowstone drug store closed down in Shoshoni because the Free Mason's sold the building. They moved out to the drive in restaurant on the east side of town. Apparantly that killed the business. I hear there is a new yellowstone drug store in casper.

THANK YOU so much for the info, WyoBrandX. Been wondering what the hell happened there.

I was pretty bumbed hearing it too. I wonder from time to time if I shouldn't have bought it and kept it going. But I've done my 14 year stint in Shoshoni growing up - I think that ought to be enough for anyone.

I drove through 3 weeks ago, the temperature was in triple digits. I really would have liked a shake!

yeah there's really nothing World Famous in the state that people come from around the world to eat at here, kinda too bad.

Not to discount the Dash Inn in my hometown Buffalo...lol

Part of the issue is there is little to no diversity in the state. Not to stereotype but we have a lot of white meat eaters.

I emailed my dad about it (Mom loved their milkshakes) and he honestly didn't know who the Free Masons were. Had to explain them to him.

I think Laramie has better options than cheyenne. Cheyenne is almost entirely chain restraunts. Laramie at least has more locally owned options in my opinion. Cheyenne does have the Morris House Bistro however, which is probably the best restraunt in Wyoming and some of the best Low Country Southern food you can get anywhere.

One of my favorite places in Cheyenne is 2 doors down. They serve a variety of burgers and sandwiches with bottomless fries. The prices are good and so is the food. Not that I am a big fan of chains but, I think a chick fil a would do crazy business in the union. It would be a great fit too since they are closed on Sundays and so are the union restaurants.

Actually, the pizza at Crowbar and the red sauce at Luciano's are as good as anything I've had, and brother, I've had a lot. I think good food is starting to finally arrive in Laramie after a prolonged absence...

Just spent six days between Buffalo, Cody, and Jackson- your Buffalo pick's solid, had a great meal there. The Rib and Chophouse in Cody was pretty spectacular as was the Proud Cut. Jackson though- Bubba's? Really? I'd have to go with Rendezvous Bistro or The Bird there.

Adds:

Lander - The Cowfish - one of the better steaks I've had in Wyoming

Hudson - Svilars - is the El Toro still there? If so, add that too.

And the Breadboards in Lander, Cody, Riverton, and Buffalo.

Can't go wrong with Extreme Burger - they do a hell of a job cooking a good burger - although Born in a Barn has some good ones too.

I agree - the breadboard has some pretty tasty food as well.

Anong's - just great food. Not the best, but great.

The Flagstaff in Sheridan has a pretty mean breakfast. Not quite as good as R&B breakfast club in Cheyenne, but close.

Fat Boys Diner in Riverton has a great burger too.

Damn we need a Hu-Hot in SE Wyoming.
