I like this kids height and size.
Just wish the kids we get to come to Wyoming were being pursued by other FBS programs.

Sure the kid could be a diamond in the rough, but it's not realistic to think we can win long term going after a high amount of kids with no FBS other offers.

Yeah, you're kind of like a mosquito bite. Even after the mosquito is long gone, it leaves you with an irritating itch that doesn't go away for days.

Unfortunately, like the mosquito, you don't really serve any sort of positive purpose besides as prey for stronger, smarter animals.

Although I agree these guys need more offers, if I can get a team of Brian Hills, I would take my chances. It could be argued he didn't have any "great offers.

But this doesn't happen anywhere. Or at least, it isn't sustainable. Sure, there are Boise State's who put together a band of underdogs who beat the odds, but even they had 4-Star players like Kellen Moore. Many years later, all of BSU's top players are former top recruits.

Obviously we long for any form of success. I'm just saying expecting Bohl to put together a grand band of underdogs for years to come is a fantasy. He will never put together a team of Brian Hill's. For every Hill, there are 15-20 average players (or even worse, terrible players).

Make no mistake about it...to succeed, Bohl will need to find at least a handful of P5 type recruits with decent offers/ratings that fall through the crack every class. It can be done...but expecting an 85-man roster filled guys whose only FBS offer is Wyoming to win big only happens in EA Sports NCAA Football 2014.

...and even there it's hard lol.

I agree with you it isn't sustainable, but all I'm saying is guys like Smith, Wick, Hill etc all had few FBS offers. But, yes, when guys like eddie are turning down offers to asu csu col to be a poke, it is evident he was more talented.

The decades that we yielded competitive teams are irrelevant in today's landscape. CFB is a completely different beast now.

With that said, I don't disagree with your view that rankings and offers aren't everything. You will find those diamonds in the rough, but it is a game of odds. Your odds are much better with higher ranked and more highly recruited players than with the alternative.

That is the huge hurdle, though. Until the wins start coming, Bohl is going to have a tough time convincing (lots of) highly rated recruits to come to Laramie. He appears to be doing a good job thus far, however.
