Another review of DC's rant

He wasn't the only one to complain about DC nor was he the only caller saying he wouldn't let his kid go to Wyoming now.

We'll see. He may change his tune depending on what, if any, his other offers are.

You illustrated the point. We will get recruits. We just won't get recruits with other offers to FBS schools and may even lose recruits to FCS schools.

Were we getting them before? Seems to me the only time we won those types of battles were when we were offering to play them at QB and whoever we were against was saying RB.

Of our current commitments, three had offers from other FBS schools (Gentry - AFA), (Fields - CSU), and Muhammed (West Kentucky). Two were only offered by Wyoming only (Anaya from Casper and the kid from Germany), the others all have offers from FCS schools.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see if some of these theories prove true. Will we not get anyone else who has other FBS offers and lose a couple to FCS schools? Well, we have already lost a guy to Portland State (so this happened prior to the DC fiasco). However, I think that was an exception and not the norm. Being an optimist, I'm willing to be we will win some additional recruiting battles and don't lose anyone else to a FCS school.

Go Pokes!

Unfortunately, I think Dave needs to go as soon as possible. I think he did some good things, but we have to have a sense of urgency to get this whole unfortunate occurrence past us, and firing Dave will do it instantly. It does two things: It separates the tirade from the University of Wyoming and places it completely on DC, and it makes Wyoming look like they do not condone what happened in any way.

Here is my question for all of you....legally...can we suspend someone and fine them 50$k AND then terminate them a week later?
Sure the Univ can fire him whenever, just comes down to how much buy out will be necessary. Suspending and especially fining him puts the Univ in a bad position now. Presumably the fine and suspension were requirments to keep his job. Now that that is done, if the University still fires him we're going to be paying a big buy out and will have the stigma that the University acted in bad faith on the fine and suspension. So we end up having to deal with that reputation when we try to hire a new coach. In my opinion, no matter what you think of Burman, Christiansen or the incident, the fine and suspension was a bad idea.

I think its important to note that we will never truly know who offered certain players and who didn't. Scout.com and other recruiting sites do their best, but I've been in athletic department's and seen recruiting lists. Full offers, greyshirt offers, walk-on offers....just because so and so only got X amount of full offers, doesn't mean some bigger school wasn't talking to them about lesser offers. Point being....scout.com, rivals, whoever.....they're never perfect. I'd be willing to bet a lot of UW players had greyshirt or walk-on offers to Pac-12 schools. Sometimes it comes down to money....school is expensive. Full-ride offer at Wyoming > Walk-on offer at Washington State.

D1 Offers just at the QB position:

Brett Smith: SJSU, NMSU
ACS: Air Force, Purdue, SDSU, SJSU, UNLV, Utah
Adam Pittser: Ball State, Western Michigan

All things being equal, assuming these players are high shool seniors after having seen the video, do they choose Wyoming? I would say probably not.

It will all blow over. I'm sure I'll never convince you, so we'll just have to wait and see.

No offense Oredigger, but I believe firing a coach, who has taken a team to two bowls in what will be 4 years, (especially at Wyominng) would have a greater negative impact than firing a coach for calling ouy a coach who felt the need to cheat during a game. We all know DC went overboard, but firing him would almost be like committing coach harry carry.

It's not like we were going to the Rose Bowl. It was two New Mexico bowls, one of which we got piss pounded in by Temple. Let's not act like he is carrying us to BCS bowls every year. There would be that much of a dropoff (I argue there would be zero dropoff) if he left. The team has one win this year. That's one more win than you or I would have coached them to at this point.

"Phuck..... Just heard a parent of a CO recruit on 850 KOA.... His kid had gone to a Wyoming camp and they refused to go back because of the way Christensen acted during camp. He said they are now 100% sure the kid will not play football at Wyoming after the video....."

This just posted on MWC Board by HR Poke.
I am famous! The point the parent made was DCs lack of humility and poor treatment of alumni and donors at the camp his kid went to. He brought up DC not thanking the donor of the semi that they transport the gear in. He also brought up the fact that parents aren't going to know or take the time to know the context of the video. They will just see him mouthing off to a coach and is coming off as a poor loser.

Doesn't that just sound like a little bit of BS to you? A parent at a football camp takes offense to how alumni and boosters are treated. Seriously? Is a summer camp a booster and alumni venue? Bottom line the guy doesn't like Christensen and is taking his shots now. Probably Christensen didn't treat his kid like an all-star and it hurt dad's feelings. It's BS.

And I personally know the guy who donates the equipment truck for the football team. He has never complained once about anything like this and is a staunch supporter of the team. Of course, they could be using a different truck for the camp, so I guess you can take that with a grain of salt.

Most likely this!
