.....and Utah is done.

Wow.. the MWC seemed to be so well represented this year, and both teams are out after the first game. Utah never stood a chance vs. Arizona. Utah St. did well today and almost pulled off a nice upset.

Wow, what does that say about our conference? I think the door is now open for the top of the conference next year. I think all the starters for Utah were seniors this year. Let's see if the Pokes can put anything together next season.

Our conference was horrible in post-season play. It says we all overrated our conference. SDSU is the only team still playing as they beat Kansas State in the 2nd round of the NIT.

Overall Post Season Record for MWC: 3-5 ... excluding SDSU 1-5

The MWC drew some horrible matchups this year. I knew from the second I saw Utah was playing Arizona that Utah was going down. As I said, SDSU is the best team in the conference. They know how to play basketball and would have represented well in the NCAA tourney. Very ironic that they ended up in the NIT. Funny thing is, of the upper half teams in the MWC, the Pokes had the best chance of taking down the Aztecs. It is all about matchups and the Pokes matched up well with the boys from Cali. Tings will be better next year for the Pokes. Manzano is a bad mother fucker on the hardwood. We will have the most talented player in the conference next year. Sorry Jimmer.

Watching the tournament, I conclude that defense is, if not everything, a major part. Teams that are presurred all over the court don't do as well as those that face relaxed defenses. I wonder if Shroyer is figuring this out.

Utah was certainly too high of a seed. No way should they have had a 5 seed. They were an underdog to a 12 seed until just before tip off. When Neville got in foul trouble early, you knew it was over. But Neville got away with those things during conference play, and expected to in the tournament. Same thing happened with BYU. They get protected by our officials, then dont know how to play with the bigboys come tourny time.

That is exactly the way I see it too. Nevill got protected this year more than the last couple of years, but byu has been getting this protection for the last several years with Plaisted and Aruajo. It may be helping these teams during the season, but this kind of biased officiating is not doing the MWC any favors come tourney time. Maybe that is exactly the plan.

So true. The MWC officials should be embarrased. They do get paid, and at a pretty decent rate. And they suck ass. Bad.
