Am I alone in hoping San Diego State falls on its face

Listen to J-Rod, guys, he knows what he's talking about.
I'm just saying, I've watched Hawaii fans make excuses and build up false hopes for years. "Zarbansky's gone, they're going to suck now!" In comes Kellen Moore. "Ian Johnson's gone now, they're going to suck now!" In comes Jeremy Avery and Doug Martin. "Jerard Rabb and Vinny Perretta are gone, they're going to suck now!" In comes Austin Pettis and Titus Young". The list goes on and on.

So like I said, I'm just throwing it out there. I was one of those fans making excuses and making like BSU would go backwards because they lost crucial players. They just reload with better players. Go take a look at their last three recruiting classes. We have yet to see the Boise State Broncos play their best football.

Boise is unique for a non-BCS school....they keep reloading every year. The term "rebuilting" never sets foot in the Boise State football office!

I don't see SDS able to regroup like Boise though. So I see a failing season. Especially since Coach Long is Run Oriented, Not pass oriented. So he'll be looking for OL's and someone else to put back behind the line with Hillman. Lindley will decline number wise this year. I really don't think they have the WR's to have more than 2,500 yards this year. Sandifer is their only threat and he's not fast at all. Escobar their other threat is only a TE and not very great either. I didn't see any great WR's coming in this years recruiting class also, so in the end, Passing goes down, we stop their run game just as we did last year, we beat them in San Diego, and to top it off, they have a losing season.
Sorry, SDSU fans, but you have a long road to credibility. You have quite a ways to go before even considering saying what teams should or shouldn't be in this conference. You're not a leader yet you BYU wannabies! You've finally rose from the lowest ranks of the conference to become a MWC team with a bowl game and win. Now you're tied for last with UNLV with one Bowl and win. Credible? I think not.

Hey I am not trying to side with SDSU! I am just saying they have a great QB! BSU wins the conference, but SDSU will not go to bed easily

I think some of you are underselling Lindley a little bit. That guy is a prototypical pro QB who is very good. I'm not saying he will be a starter in the NFL, but he could become a solid backup.

I'm not underselling him at all. i think he's a good QB, His numbers speak for themselves, but he did have some threats to hook up with the last couple of years, I see no threats this year. And he plays Pro Style very well, i'll give him that, but he tends to lead way to far at times and either has incompletions (which is why his best completion percentage is 57%, or he leads and it gets picked off. You have to admit, the guy throws a crap load of int's! He reminds me of Bramlet. Good but not great. And I don't see him being the difference maker when it comes to close games. he's going to need Sandifer or Escobar to step up.

Let's go Mustangs!!
I remember when a Tim Walsh Portland State squad went into Albuquerque and beat ROCKY LONG's New Mexico Lobos. Upset? If Poly can take Wisconsin down the wire in Madison, you bet they can give the A$$tecs a run for their money.

I knew that losing Brown and Sampson was going to hurt them. Those 2 could make up for Lindly's innaccuracy with their skill. Now, his innaccuracy is being shown. Unless he improves it, SDSU is going to rely more and more on the run game.

Very true. And Hillman isn't built like a featured RB.....if he goes down, so does SDSU's season.

Oh so close......look on the bright side.....that SDSU vs Washington State game looks a lot tougher for the Aztecs now.

24-14 WSU in the 3rd.

What excuses are next from the Aztec fans? Don't tell me.....NOW the Cougs are good, right?

I actually logged back onto here to search for this thread and its already been drug up. LOL

I do think Wazzu is improved but come on SDSU, I thought you guys were next for the Big 12?

Aztec fans think their team is on the same level as Boise State and TCU. BSU and TCU don't struggle with mid-level Pac-12 teams.

I've heard rumors that if the Chargers were to move back to Los Angeles (they moved to San Diego in 1961) that the City of San Diego will get rid of Qualcomm Stadium and force SDSU to drop football!

Got a buddy who sits in the Spanos' box from time to time who told me pretty much the same thing. If the Chargers move, either SDSU has to buy the stadium or come up with an acceptable lease offer- which he termed unlikely. SDSU might be facing the possibility of getting budgeted out of football.

That being said, it's not good, in the long term, for anyone in the conference to lose an OOC game, especially this season.

Have to say, Hillman's pretty amazing... 187 yards and 4 TD's so far this game.
Definitely. Not sure the Aztecs are even respectable without him.
