Already Fractured D - Does LeBlanc leaving hurt?

So, with Tormey behind the wheel of the defensive car careening off the cliff, how does LeBlanc departure hurt us, if at all. If there was one silver lining in our D, it was our D Line. With that being said, was our D Line that good that someone from Southern Miss took notice? Conf USA isn’t a whole lot different than MWC to me.

Are you out of your mind?! Our D line was the WORST unit on our defense this season! The only reason the secondary looked bad was because the D line put zero pressure on opposing QB's.

Hold it! Of course it hurts to lose LeBlanc. But who could blame him for bailing out after having to work with DC's pet project Matt Rahl. Rahl was the issue...if we are going to point at coaches being the issue...not LeBlanc.

:o

Did the Wyo D-Line magically turn into some dominant force during 2012? No, they were a complete joke. Not seeing why losing LeBlanc hurts. Find another coach, one not prone to bolting after less than a year.

I don't know. The eye-test said that Sonny and Mike held their own. Our D backs were more like D bags most games.

I am not saying our D line was good...just wondering if LeBlanc leaving really hurts us at all

But I think that our defensive lines (especially D-ends) were pretty bad most of the year. Really it was hard to find bright spots in the d last year and so therefore any defensive changes in coaching are welcome from me.

Muhammed and Purcell were bright spots. But that was about it, sadly.

I think this is being blown WAY out of proportion. Just because we got a d-line coach from LSU does not mean he was the savior of our defense. He coached for 1 year at UW, and then got a job back down south. Maybe he wanted to be closer to home. A d-line coach leaving after 1 year will have no impact on our team.
If anything we should be glad that we have Renaldo Hill, someone who played in the NFL for years and years and is here for a 2nd season.

BeardedClamPoke,

LeBlanc was the assistant strenght & conditioning coach at LSU prior to coming here. And he may have been shitty for all we know, but he was 20x more qualified to do the job than Matt Rahl (who was the co-D Line coach last year and will go it alone this year).

Agree on Renaldo Hill, I think that is a solid move, if DC let's him coach and doesn't restrict the living piss out of him.

I remember reading that DC said he had a list of applicants sitting on his deck he was going through and would be making a new hire, so I don't think Rahl will not have them all alone. We need help there.

Rahl is the biggest kiss-ass, most useless coach on DC's staff. As long as DC is our coach, Rahl has a job. DC will move him anywhere to keep him employed. I can't imagine he'd let him go it alone as our D-line coach. If DC gets fired, Rahl will be the next one out the door. No incoming coach would keep him. I don't know how he could be good at recruiting. If you meet him in person it takes about a second to realize he's a dick.

The way I see it - if the D doesn't get a lot better, several people are going to be walking down the road kicking horse apples.

If that's the case, some would say CDC will be right there kicking horse apples with them.....Not sure the boosters would tolerate another bowl-less season.
