Allen Edwards, head coach for EKU??

Hate to lose Coach Edwards, but he should be the logical choice for EKU. The recently hired AD is from Kentucky and was the basketball player there

I don't think a school replaces a coach of 10 years with an assistant coach from another school of 4 years. I would expect them to look bigger or local inside the current staff but I hope if he does he makes something of it.

Not sure how he is the logical choice? Just because the athletic director played at Kentucky doesn't mean much. I suppose they could look at him but I seriously doubt it.

It would be a great fit.

Edwards was already an assistant at EKU people.

At Kentucky as a player he went to the Elite 8, National Champion, Final 4, National Champion.

Assistant at Kentucky in 2002-2003.
Assistant at Morehead State 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006.
Assistant at VCU 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009
Assistant at Towson 2009-2010
Assistant at Western Kentucky 2010-2011
Assistant at Wyoming 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015

He is from Miami originally.

High School in Miami, Florida.
Played and coached at UK, coached at Morehead State, coached at Western Kentucky, all 3 in Kentucky.
Coached at Towson in Maryland.
Coached at VCU in Virginia.

Has spent 13 seasons coaching, 9 of them in the Southest/East Coast area.

If anything, he wouldn't be a fit at Wyo (which I think he is). He is a fit at EKU and I think he would make a fine head coach, especially given the area he is from and used to.

I don't see where he was an assistant at EKU, did you mean WKU?

Yeah Beav,

I am not saying he wouldn't be a good head coach and I understand the correlation to Kentucky. I just hadn't thought he was being mentioned as a possible candidate for the job but I guess he is from doing some research. Would be a good hire for E. Kentucky for sure.

My mistake on the EKU and WKU mix-up, and saying he has experience at EKU, but I still maintain with his experience in that area, the coaches and programs he has been associated with, where he is from, etc. he would be a great fit there.

His name is gaining steam, and he has NBA players endorsing him on Twitter... For the Pokes sake, I hope not.. I think Edwards is an excellent coach and recruiter

I would really love to keep our group of coaches. They work extremely well together. I've been impressed with Shy keeping the same group since he's been back. And this is the longest Edwards has stayed at one school, he must really enjoy working with this group aswell. But I'm sure he would go after a HC position if it was offered to him. I'd love for him to stay, but I'd love to see these coaches go elsewhere and succeed in their careers as a testament to what they learned under coach Shy.

It would be a bummer to lose him, but I'd be very happy for him if he got a head coaching opportunity. We're lucky to have kept our coaching staff together this long.

Agreed. I've always had the feeling that Jeremy was the head coach in waiting. I know that Papa Shyatt has several more years left on the bench, but I've always assumed that Jeremy was here to keep this thing going.

From what I've heard directly from multiple players, Jeremy is respected by the guys but is kinda seen as the coach's cute little kid that comes to practice. Doesn't really have the basketball resume to be viewed as a legitimate basketball coach, but a great assistant

What?

Maybe I'm confused because I don't get it but, how can you refer to someone as "the coaches cute little kid that comes to practice" then refer to that same person as a "great assistant"?

Calling Jeremy Shyatt the coaches cute little kid that comes to practice is an enormous disrespect to him.
