Hi everyone, new to the forum. Big time Cowboys fan who just recently moved to Kansas.
Here's what i hope happens. We don't need 16 teams to be a power conference. I think 14 would be great. And yeah maybe catch a few from the falling out of the Big 12 (Mostly for basketball purposes). but, also bring a few teams on the outside to go up with us. Here's the scenario:
MWC: AFA, BYU, CSU, UNM, SDSU, TCU, UNLV, UTAH, WYO.
Take from the BIG 12: KU, KSU (Both are great for basketball, mediocre at best for football, but better than ISU or baylor, besides we don't need to be taking BCS schools that stink, including Colorado).
Bring up with MWC: Boise St(Great football program), Nevada(Up and coming football program, good basketball program), Fresno st(Good football program).
in all this strengthens our conference in football and basketball significantly.
How it would look:
Mountain West Conference
Mountain
1. Air Force (good football program, low basketball program)
2. Brigham Young (Great football program, Great basketball program (as much as I hate saying that)).
3. Utah (Great football program, mediocre basketball program)
4. Wyoming (Up and coming football program, mediocre basketball program)
5. Colorado st. (Mediocre football program, mediocre basketball program)
6. Boise st. (Great football program, mediocre basketball program)
7. New Mexico (Mediocre football program, Great basketball program)
West
1. TCU (Great football program, mediocre basketball program)
2. UNLV (Poor football program, Great basketball program)
3. SDSU (Poor football program, Good basketball program)
4. Kansas (Mediocre football program, Elite basketball program)
5. Kansas st (Mediocre football program, Good Basketball program)
6. Nevada (Up and coming football program, good basketball program)
7. Fresno st. (Good football program, mediocre basketball program)
As it's lined up all rivalries get to keep with each other. WYO-CSU, BYU-Utah, AFA-CSU, UNLV-Nevada, KU-KSU.
