Alijah Landrum-Hamilton

Seems odd that he is making a verbal commitment so early on especially when there is a non-zero chance that Sawvel and this entire coaching staff is fired after this coming season.

Maybe I'm just being cynical and the kid just wants to stay close to home, but I would be very surprised if we actually see him in Laramie.

There’s nothing to enforce (absent some kind of signed and mutually obligating NIL agreement). I think we have seen numerous verbals like these over the years that ultimately change prior to the very distant signing day. High school kids aren’t exactly known for thinking through all the possibilities before doing or saying something.

It’s great to get an expression of interest but, as you allude to, means very little when it comes down to it.

Sawvel apparently already used the threat of ‘if you fire me, players will leave too’ so I guess from his perspective this gives him more ‘bullets’ to the threat. I personally find such a threat completely unpersuasive given how we already know the players to perform under him and the ability to turn into a good team overnight through the transfer portal.
