For Wyoming, defending option offense requires discipline, awareness
The triple option is a numbers game.
In many pro-style offensive schemes, the defense accounts for 10 players, while possessing 11 of its own. This allows for what Wyoming coach Craig Bohl calls a "free hitter" to roam and possibly make up for a gap error or busted coverage.
When playing against these systems, the quarterback is a deliveryman, and little else. Maybe he'll take off on a designed run every so often, but his legs aren't a consistent, legitimate threat.
There are statue-like quarterbacks, and then there are the more mobile variety that are all the rage in today's game.
