Air Force Gone to AAC

If I'm MWC commish, I rally the troops ASAP with a long-term vision. Use the buyout to build the premier western bball conference.

Get nmsu inked with that vision.

Throw the bucks at some of the following: Zags, St. Mary's, gcu, Irvine, Davis, uvu??? or whatever bball schools make sense. Give the Zags whatever they want.

If we lose unm/unlv then this will be a harder sell to the bball only schools.

I don't know. It's just looking so bleak right now.

City of Cheyenne seems to be making “progress”. Big data centers and other companies moving in there.
It is. But the public is growing weary of data centers and the associated industries they are tied to - including a large scale solar farm. There are pockets of progress, but they are few and far between.

Was able to watch PBJs presser for North Texas and this is what stuck out most for me...
When your AD tells you that you could go 3-0 by 100 points a game and still plan on being one of the "left-behinds". THIS is the reason that Tom Burman needs to go! He has no vision for the future of Wyoming Athletics and has ALWAYS been satisfied with the status quo. His history of managing that department is clear...Average is good enough...
Wyoming is going nowhere with the current leadership....
Absolutely Correct. He has been that way since damn near day 1. He is ok with being ok.

Dude. I live in Cheyenne and travel the state a lot in my job, Cheyenne has its problems but compared to most of the rest of the state it has significantly less of a problem with drugs.
I have seen some data (and will try to find it), that Laramie County & Cheyenne in particular have the highest use of Narcan - by far - of any other county & city in Wyoming. I think your assumption may be incorrect.

Then again, Cheyenne is also growing more in some demographics than almost all other city and counties in Wyoming. So with that, you get that.

Highest use of Narcan doesn’t necessarily translate to highest drug use. Availability of Narcan can actually be viewed as a positive because at least it is easily accessed and being used to save lives. I know that’s been a big goal of the current Laramie County Sheriff’s office leadership.

It does with what I read. Coupled with the CRMC data that reflects opioid usages and overdoses. But this dialog doesn't have much to do with AFA leaving (although the thread title is misleading, as it hasn't exactly happened at this point).

You’re right. It doesn’t.

But Air Force is gone no doubt.

We are much better off taking the exit money than putting our non-revenue sports in a far flung conference. I’m guessing this is football only for Air Force and they will park other sports in Summit or something.
May be true short term. Long term the money runs out. What then?

Currently, AAC teams generate roughly $7 million per year per team and CUSA $750,000 per year per team in media revenue. MWC generates roughly $5 million per year per team.

AAC deal will decrease if any current teams depart based on clause in contract with ESPN (ie Memphis leaving). My guess is the money goes to roughly $5 million per school. MWC media deal is up in 2026 and will probably go to $1-2.5 million per school after the major departures .

Even if AAC were to invite Wyoming (which it won’t) - The increase in travel costs and travel time wouldn’t justify a move. This is especially true when exit fees are figured in.

While CUSA would invite Wyoming most likely, CUSA is off the table because both the league makeup and media revenue are awful.

Therefore, long term there are really two viable options to stay FBS. Participate In a watered down regionally oriented MWC or somehow receive a future PAC invite (unrealistic).

So not much for “what’s next”.

Here's the best info I can find. It does not support your assertion.

I think this is right. And my guess is a watered down MWC that Tom Burman and Gloria Nevarez pretend was an engineered solution. Nevarez's silence in all of this is absolutely pathetic. The Dakotas, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming will be a conference oscillating between FBS and FCS. I looked at each school's football facilities and would have zero interest in visiting any of them. I think University of Montana was described as "...built in 1973 at the cost of a half a million dollars...." And if somehow one of these schools improved, what's the chance any PAC 12 (or other) school would ever schedule a game with them? I gotta stop caring about this stuff. I just read about how much Fed Ex donated for NIL. It all disgusts me.

Did you see the Vols' talent fee? 10% added to every ticket for revenue sharing.

To me, this looks like a very likely scenario. And its one that should get Gloria Nevarez fired immediately. When the most notable thing on your resume is promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (vs. building a conference) its really time to go. And I am sick of Burman placating CSU. If CSU wants to backstab Wyoming, then why should Wyoming agree to play them in the future? His summary of his discussion with the CSU A.D. made me realize how weak UW is. Let CSU be the one that destroyed the Bronze Boot tradition.
Exactly right FU CSU
