I have been thinking a lot about the seemingly inevitable end that Air Force and Boise go to the Big East. While I would like to keep Air Force, the only reason we invited Boise was to bolster Utah, BYU and TCU to force our way into the BCS. They are all gone, and along with them, any real shot of getting into the BCS - WITH or WITHOUT Boise State. I couldn't care less about Boise and their arrogance - they have no tradition with the conference or our team. I say, don't let the door hit you on the way out - and leave the money on the bar as you leave.
In terms of Air Force, I think they are making a mistake. When the BCS does its rejiggering and works to consolidate even more power, the Big East and its AQ - if there is such a thing - will be given to the SEC, Big 10 or Big 12. I will miss the trip to Colorado Springs and the traditions and great games with them.
From there, I think we should add a team or two, maybe Hawaii in all sports or a Texas school or two - stand pat with the CUSA relationship (as it gives us some strength in numbers to put up at least a semblance of a fight against the cartel) and then WORK LIKE HECK to ensure that our Pokes use this as an opportunity to win and build the program. Only with wins do we have a shot of not being a left-over, has-been, soon-to-be FCS school.
