@ Air Force Academy

went down to the AFA this weekend, and imo, we wouldn't have won even with Larry with the way AF was shooting the ball, our tendencies to play our offense when we are down big, I just don't get it, have some urgency, and put the ball to the hole and in it especially. I don't see us taking it to SDSU neither, sorry.
But when I leave a game early, 6 mins left that's saying something, we tried but it's sad that we are a one man team, smh....
Come on Pokes time to regroup big time!!!!

Don't kid yourself. That game would have been a 180 degree difference if Larry Nance played. Teams only shoot well if you let them establish a rhythm and never take them out of it. Nance is the difference maker that takes teams out of rhythm. CSU is a much better shooting team than AF, but they haven't made shit against us all year.

Plus, Nance can play enough minutes that we'd never need to see a 5-guard lineup giving up offensive rebounds to Air Force. We were so thin at one position that it was impossible to recover. Also, we didn't know that Nance wouldn't play until the night before the game...after all the AF game preparation was completed. Usually you have an inkling that you're going to be missing a player due to some sort of nagging injury or whatnot. We prepared as though Nance would be playing 39 minutes.

If we're healthy, we'll win on Wednesday. If not, we'll give SDSU a hell of a game and then get healthy enough to run the table after that. We'll just have to cross our fingers that SDSU drops a couple down the stretch, which they probably will. Remember that they absolutely can't shoot for shit. They're VERY vulnerable every night. They almost lost at Nevada. They almost lost at home to Air Force. They almost lost at home to UNLV. Some of this sounds like Wyoming, but I'm illustrating that fact that SDSU is not as powerful as many seem to build them up to be. We can win on their floor. We absolutely can win on their floor.

Like I said earlier, the whole complexion of the game would have changed with Nance in the lineup. Our team was scared to close out hard to AF perimeter shooters (and perhaps had been instructed to keep them in front and force them to make jump shots) without Nance protecting the rim. This was especially the case with Cooke frequently being dragged away from the hoop when we were in man. Now, this should have been something we adjusted as the game went on, but it was clear the whole team's defensive mindset was much, much different in this game. We generally are happy to concede jumpshots but we'll at least contest them. This game, not so much.

I never leave early, this game i left with 6mins left couldn't take anymore, plus the loud obnoxious AF fan behind me...lol
