ADAM BARRY TO LINEBACKER

My personal, favorite position.

You heard it here first. He's switching to MLB. This is not a 'rumor'. I just saw this topic on the other thread and haven't been able to break this news to you guys, due to it being finals week here. I'm done with finals. Fire away the questions, fellas.

I hope he thrives there. With the talent coming in at QB, he had "transfer" written all over him. That won't be the case if he can learn to play the position.

Obviously, it was a good move, in order to keep him here at UW (for UW). How does Adam really feel about it though? Did he play some LB in HS?

Adam is def not the type of player or person that would transfer.

It was definitely an excellent choice. Especially with all of the injuries to the linebacking core. He's been told to gain 10lbs in the summer and keep his speed. He is slated to be in the starting rotation next to Knapton. I don't believe he ever played LB in high school, being the starting qb and all. He's stoked about it. If anyone has ever seen the guy, this is gonna be an easy transition for him. It's not like Dax trying to convert to defense here. The dude is an athlete. People that have seen him this spring know he can hit.

I highly doubt he has been moved directly into a starting spot when he hasn't taken a single snap at the position in his entire life. Knapton and Hendricks are both stud ILB's. There is no way he will take either of their spots without a phenomenal fall practice. If you are referring to OLB, then he MAY have a chance to take Barella's spot, but that won't be given to him either. Weston Johnson has proven himself at the other OLB spot. I'm not sure if you are related to the guy or just his friend, but you definitely have a skewed perspective. I remember you raving about his QB skills before spring ball and even recommended that I be shot in the foot when I suggested that Crum would earn the #2 spot behind Sween at the conclusion of the spring. He sounds like a great kid, but I'm not convinced he is that great of a football player.

If true, I'm glad they found a spot where he could see the field. He could definitely help on Special Teams as well. I love converted QBs on Special Teams, it gives you so many options if you are willing to gamble. If the other team kicks short, Barry grabs it and rockets a sideline to sideline lateral to the other side of the field and we walk in with a touchdown.

I don't see what the big deal is about moving positions. TCU has probably 10 Highschool QBs, and RBs starting for them, some on defense. Granted, most of them knew they were going to play elsewhere when recruited, but still, its not a big deal.

One of Montana's best special teams players last year was a 3rd string quarterback from Cut Bank. Kid is fast.. really fast, he was usually one of the first players down to tackle the ball carrier on punt team, and I think they gave him a shot at PR/KR once or twice. If you've got a nose for the football and aren't afraid of hitting or getting hit, then Barry could excel at LB or Spec Teams.

Don't get it twisted, re-read what I said. starting ROTATION (the 4 MLBs that get to play), I didn't mean to leave out Hendricks name cuz he's one of the coolest kids on the team and also a beast. I'm sorry you like Dax so much...if only you knew half the sh*t that people on campus do. I'll just leave it at that. I was at some of the practices and still can't see how he ended up at #2. I mean the guy can't even manage the ball when he was called on to run a zone-read handoff/keeper. But go ahead, keep drinking that Crum gravy buddy..he'll be 4th on the depth chart when the fall is done.

btw, did you go to any of the practices/scrums?

dapokes:

I went to all of the scrimmages except for the spring game. I can already see your head going crazy, so I will clarify that it had absoultely nothing to do with Crum being suspended. I happened to be out of state that weekend. I don't like Crum as a quarterback or as a person. I'm not that far removed from campus and I've heard plenty of stories about Crum. The guy sounds like a comlete dickhead. Won't deny it. I totally agree that he won't make the top three after fall. If you look back at some of my previous posts, I have ALWAYS stated that, even before spring ball began. I simply said he would be number 2 and Barry number 3 after spring ball. That's exactly the way it turned out.

I still have to question your claim that he will even be in the top for ILB's at the start of fall. Why the hell would a guy get inserted into the starting rotation when he has never played a snap at the position before? It may be your opinion that he will end up there by the time the season rolls around, and that would be a legitimate suggestion. However, I think there will still be a learning curve moving to a position you have never played before. Josh Biezuns is one hell of a touch mother fucker too, but notice he ended up 3rd at OLB after he switched there this spring. I take everything you say with a huge grain of salt. According to you, Barry would be the #1 QB coming out of spring ball too. We all saw how that prediction turned out.

Somebody has to fill me in on some of these Crum stories

I don't wanna put him on blast. Just know there's a reason why he was suspended for the spring game.

Hint: It had nothing to do with his grades lol
