ACS Staying?

I looked at the post on GWG.. I'm inclined to believe this is much ado about nothing. Like someone said, ACS's only real possibility to transfer would be to go FCS.. and as much as I'd like to see him at Montana, it's not gonna happen. I think he'll stay in Laramie.. if he's worried about playing in the NFL, scouts will find him, playing for a good team or bad team.

I did find it odd Shamiel Gary was suited up to play but was never in the game. If he missed last game because of a death in the family why wouldn't he be allowed to come back and play?

Not sure, but he may have missed some practice time during the week because of the death. I was glad to see Luke Ruff get some playing time. He didn't get the recognition he deserved coming out of high school, but he is just as good of a football player as anyone in DC's first recruiting class. I think you guys are really going to like Luke Ruff once he takes over the FS spot next season. He really has a knack for the ball and making big plays, which he has showcased during his time on special teams.

Luke Ruff was a Joe Glenn recruit, he signed with Wyoming under Glenn he had said for years that he wanted to play for the Pokes.

He was recruited under Glenn (and verballed), but signed under DC after Glenn had been let go.

Ruff verballed to WYO in the summer. Only three kids that were recruited / verballed to UW stayed committed after Glenn was let go. Ruff, Todd Knight, and Jeff Roueche.

FYI - ACS was a DC kid and bellcow, Arroyo got him to commit for San Jose St. but whem DC made Arroyo HOC at WYO. ACS followed him here.

Yes, that is my recollection also.

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO INSIDE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE ACS TRANSFER SITUATION. THIS IS SIMPLY MY THOUGHTS ON SOME OF THE PREVIOUS POSTS REGARDING THE SUBJECT.

Which begs the question...is ACS more likely to leave if Arroyo gets canned?

ACS really seemed to have a strong connection with Arroyo during the recruiting process. He was basically willing to follow Arroyo wherever he went. I agree with posters that ACS wouldn't have a whole lot of transfer options if he does decide to leave, but I don't think that will deter ACS from leaving if he is truly unhappy with the UW program. Remember, the kid originally chose one of the worst programs in the nation (San Jose State) and then UW even though there were offers on the table from BCS schools (Purdue). I think ACS is smart enough to realize that he doesn't have a future in football beyond college. He's a good college QB, but his skill set is nowhere close to what they look for in the NFL. Thus, playing at the highest level in college won't be as important to him.

Another interesting question comes out of this whole situation...do you guys think DC should take into account the fact that his best player (ACS) may be more likely to leave if Arroyo is fired when deciding Arroyo's fate?

Personally, I have never thought Arroyo was the problem. However, there have been several on this board who have made it clear that they want Arroyo out. Although coaches don't usually read message boards, you can bet that if there are grumblings on a board about a coach, DC has heard about it in one way or another.

I think Arroyo will keep his job.. it's only year 2.. offense wasn't the only problem on the team this year.

My wife asked me this question the other night, she said some ladies were talking about it. I chaulked it up to people not having a clue what they were talking about. I pictured women in a beauty salon or something, I have not idea who it was. ACS seems pretty sharp and transferring seems like a huge mistake. At UW he is a superstar and he would have to transfer down to maintain that status or fight for a starting spot on a similar D1 school, plus he would have to sit a year. I think he has a chance to be MWC offensive player of the year, as we are a team that will be better and all the top teams will probably be breaking in new quarterbacks and prime for upsetting.

The fact that "a group of ladies" in Fremont County are talking about UW football seems like progress right there, but I really doubt there is any validity to any of it. It just doesn't make sense on any level to me.

If there is one thing I've been shocked by since beginning posting on this board a couple of years ago is that there are quite a few posters on both boards who have inside knowledge and connections with UW athletics. When theres smoke on the message boards, theres usually fire.

I guess we will see what happens, but it still doesn't even seem realistic.,like a lose-lose situation to me. He is one of our true warriors/fighters so it would be a huge loss. I still can't see how he could benefit by going elsewhere vs staying and playing on a top 4, 3, 2, or even 1 MWC team. I think if Kellen Moore goes pro a conference championship isn't completely unrealistic.

Sorry, but until I hear something from a credible source, I'm treating this as a none issue....I think its just someone who knows nothing about the situation spouting off and now everyone's all head up about it.

I see it like this: A kid, venting to his parents, at an emotionally fragile time in his young career. Then...the parents making a comment (taken somewhat out of context) to the wrong person (with the wrong ears around hearing it as well).

i remember there was a similar rumor about afam, bottom line is if youre the man at your school and pretty much guaranteed to start youre not gonna leave

Same also with Ewing a few years back, and same with many others...I don't know what it is about that type of misery loves company crap, but I can't stand it. They should rename the board that starts most of these rumors "Chicken Little The Sky Is Falling Nation". Damn.

This was just posted on Schmoldt's Twitter, mostly what I figured: For those who have been into the rumor mongering surrounding Austyn Carta-Samuels staying in Laramie, you can quit. He's a Cowboy. #gopokes

Regarding RBs, they have posted on the other board that Ghaali Muhammad has been moved to RB.

Now for the important things, is it too early to post the odds of which starter some idiot will post is leaving the basketball team after this year? Even money is the rumor will be the entire starting five.
